I am working on a computer that has dual XEON processors. I need to know what speed the Xeons are, and found the following on one of the chips:

01' XEON
4128A676

Anyone know if this a 2.8 P4 Xeon?

Thanks

That's just the batch number. Need more markings.

If it's a big vendor system (DELL/HP/IBM/etc), just run something like Z-CPU on it.

Okay, thanks.

I was hoping the batch number might also be used to identify it.

The computer looks to be a home-built. (Lian-Li case, Supermicro P4DCE MB). In order to get it to boot I had to reset the bios, now it has defaulted tot he lowest multiplier (8) and is booting at 800 mhz. I am pretty sure this motherboard only takes P4s so I know they can run faster.

Thanks again. When I get a chance to open it back up I'll check the underside of one of cpus.

here's the info on the underside:

1700DP/256L2/400/1.7V

So If I would have just popped it completely off in the first place I wouldn't have had to post this, but thanks for the heads up.

You have a 1700Mhz Foster Xeon. Those are to say the least... slow. I think your motherboard show be able to handle Prestonia Xeons, which should yield quite an improvement.
