A bit over MSRP but I think i'm going to bite in a couple of weeks. These took 10 weeks after "launch" to show up in mainstream stores.

32nm quad here i come!

*sigh* I don't have enough to replace the CPUs in my server. Cuz then I'd want to buy a new ATX board for the "old" E5520's to go into for a new workstation and then I'd need new RAM... you see where this slippery slope is going. :p

Any OC results yet? LOL I wonder if these will go past 4.5 on air. It might be worth the upgrade then.

going from 8 meg to 12 meg cache, and from 45nm to 32 nm ? And it costs $100 more ? Why do I care ???? What does that buy me.

I've seen some reports of this cpu at XS and its nothing to get excited about. Doesnt seem to OC anymore than the 45nm Nehalems. Better off just waiting for Sandy Bridge.

A cooler running cpu at a higher clockspeed with more cache?

Aigo had a couple of ES 32nms i believe.

There is no desktop equivalent, and there wont be for at least 4-5 months.

given the size of his farm i highly doubt he cares about heat anymore lol. mark just needs something to give him as many PPD as possible :)

Actually I do ! Thats why I am so happy with my new 1090T. It puts out more ppd than 2 of my best video cards with a fraction (like maybe even 1/4th) of the heat they put out.

Wouldn't a fermi crush a 1090T in ppd/w? The GTX480 is 300w... but it's like 5x the PPD rate of an OCed 1090T isn't it?

According to Mark's thread in distributing computing 4.1 Ghz 1090T will pull 16K.

That would put it above a Fermi if true. Which would be odd to say the least.

When I checked the Anandtech review it looked like 480 GTX was getting something like ~3.5 times more PPD than 285 GTX.

P.S. I have no idea how many PPD 285 GTX gets, but the slower 260 GTX is supposed to get 6,000-7,000 PPD.

There at the top of my list is my 1090T CPU. Is that enough proof ?
