xDSL and cable modem

I'm a bandwidth hog, isn't there a way for me to combine the two and choose which way my systems route.... to get the fastest possible connection. I've seen this done with a T1 and a cable modem, wondering if this was possible with xDSL and cable modem, and do I need one or two NICs per system. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Thanks.
