Anyway, seeing people go gaga over these new PSUs makes me feel better since they are paying extra for something even more worthless. ^^
Buying one of these is like buying Alienware. It means something, but probably not what you want it to mean. People have been making these double connector PSUs on their own to eek out that last little bit of cooling performance and looks from really tweaked setups for much longer than you could buy premade versions. Doing that and showing it off to other people could be cool. Saying you bought it, though, that will just get you one of those "oh, clueless rich kid doesn't know how to spend money" looks...

Well brand and wattage is a whole 'nother thing. Paying much extra on those is stupid as well. I've seen dozens of Dells running the same general level and amt. of components (after upgrades) as enthusiast setups without a hitch - with half the power supply some of these idiots buy. That's all off topic, however.
The point is that this particular option for a power supply, leads that can be unplugged at the PSU, is both nothing new, the modding community has been doing it themselves for some time (which is hella cheaper btw), and a waste of money to pay for. It makes your case slightly tidier and helps air flow slightly. Compared to that the memory was an awesome deal.
Two of my computers currently use older style Antec 400watt PSUs, I got them for 35$ each this year since newer featured ones are out. Anyone who says blowing nearly 3 times that for the piece of crap the OP linked or other PSUs of that vein is off his rocker. That money is better spent on something that matters. Anyone who comes across a setup with that crap in it will know immediately the money went into stupid looks and fads instead of actual performance.

You're quibbling over a $100 PSU? Considering some people here spend THOUSANDS on other components, as it was pointed out, the PSU is something you shouldn't skimp on. Who crapped in your cereal???![]()

i don't think he's saying skimp, i think he's correctly saying you can get a solid quality power supply without all the flash for less. he's just being obnoxious about it.
i gotta agree a bit tho, because i'd rather put the extra cash somewhere else, even if the idea intrigues me.
edit: however, to each his own, and there is another thread around that mentions that psu which probably has more helpful info in it. i believe the poster was happy with his xconnect unit.
