Is anybody interested in this? I've never played the other ones, but Xenonauts got me into this type of game recently.

The graphics seem a little strange to me. I don't know if it's the art style or what, but something kind of doesn't sit right. Regardless, I'm going to keep my eye on it when it's released in a few months.

Nope. I remember seeing them all the time, but for some reason I never bothered to check them out. I think I regret that now.

Xcom Enemy unknown is fun.. maps get a bit repetitive, but it is fun, especially with the Enemy within expansion later on. Looking forward to 2

I still dislike how they renamed the original for the US market....

UFO: Enemy Unknown and it's sequel X-COM: Terror From The Deep are essentially what Xenonauts became. Time Units, proper Geoscape view of the planet updated second by second (with time dilation options), research and other stuff that's less scripted.

Modern X-COM: Enemy Unknown is.... simplified and in some cases in a good way. The mission combat has been made much nicer for me. Sure, TU's were great but it was always too complicated for me, even when I had grown up watching my Dad beat the crap out of the aliens and they used a Move/Shoot mechanic. Otherwise, I wasn't convinced that the "Geoscape" side of the coin was done properly and felt so scripted to the point of frustration for me.

I am, however, really looking forward to X-COM 2. It seems to be bringing that Half Life 2 story feel to the X-COM universe and putting a good spin on the conflict. Just hoping that the base level action is done in a much better manner than modern X-Com:EU handled it.

I've got a feeling XCom 2 will be almost exactly like the first, along with EVERY single problem that plagued the first.

A game marred by technical hiccups, hamstringed by trying to be like the classics, and overall good but nowhere near great.

All those times you are in cover yet the aliens easily hit you, or when you shot through walls with a 90% to hit chance (how?) will return. The not-fun hangar and fighters to shoot down UFOs will return.

... I'm just not interested in another dose of mediocrity, and betting that is what is being delivered.

The modern X-Com series is a very mainstream interpretation of the originals, so you may find them a bit limited after playing Xenonauts. Personally, I'd recommend Jagged Alliance 2 with the 1.13 mod if you're looking for something else in the genre.

I liked X-com UFO Defense and Terror from the Deep, I really hope this game is more like those games and less like the remake. I really did like having large squads and being limited only by the size of the aircraft.

Since the Long War mod was so popular I wonder if they'll incorporate elements from it into XCOM2.

Enjoyed the XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within and even got it for Anrdoid to play on the go. One of the few games that could easily translate to mobile.

Reviews for XCOM 2 were published today and so far with 32 critic reviews on Metacritic it's sitting with a Metascore of 91. Game releases this Friday the 5th and I'm looking forward to playing this one. Unlike the first one this is a PC only exclusive and hopefully that translates well into the final game.

Yeah same here. I usually buy directly through Steam but the 27% off either version was too hard to pass up so I went with the Deluxe Edition.

How is GMG when it comes to sending out activation codes in time to preload or even play on release day?
