Xbox360 Wireless Adapter

Sadly, that's still a rip-off. 😛

I like the MS one as it's much more convenient than having a big router and then installing alternative firmware to get it to act as a wireless bridge, or running cat-5 throughout the house. The MS device came in handy when I took my 360 to a friend's house and was able to connect to a wireless network, without having to haul around some bulkier devices.

At $50, it seems reasonable given the convenience factor.

Just my .02

$50 is a good deal.... but it seems to be gone, I didn't see anything having to do with wireless gaming adapters there. The old original xbox ones and the older version of the linksys wireless gaming adapters are around $40... so an extra $10 for the MS one is a pretty good deal.

how well does it work? is lag much more noticeable than running cat 5 cable?

I haven't noticed any issues since switching from wired ethernet in any online games I play (Halo3, COD4, Burnout Paradise).

It ultimately depends on how well your wireless network runs, distance from your router, interference, etc.

I'm running one now on my main floor and my router is upstairs. When I was running my network with a WRT54G, I'd get interference whenever the microwave in the kitchen was on. That didn't seem to affect gaming though...only video streaming. Since I've switched to a D-Link router, I don't get much interference anymore.

I honestly can't tell a difference between my 360 on the main level that is using the wireless adapter and my 360 upstairs that is connected to the router with cat 5.
