I think you can do more stuff with the PS3 (media center, blu ray player, etc.) and if you're already a PC gamer, you'll find more console exclusive games on the PS3.

Yes, use the search function to find the hundreds of threads already made about the exact same subject.

This is why I asked for a PS3 for xmas from my wife :) My son's 360 and my PC are pretty similar. Now I don't have to compete with him for his console, I get a blu ray player, and I don't have to pay for an online sub to play online. Also, I stream from my laptop though the PS3 our home videos and stuff like that when family is over.

If you have a gaming PC then get a PS3 for more game variety. Most of the good games for Xbox share with the PC and you will always want to get them on the PC.

I had both, well until I got rid of my 360 after five years. Get the PS3 IMO.

1. Free online versus $40-$60/years to play online and use Netflix.
2. More games, the 360 has turned into a Kinect machine. I assume you are not looking to dance 100% and want to play real games?
3. $250 for 160GB > $200 w/4GB or $300 250GB. The Hd in the PS3 is replaceable by design.
4. Blu-Ray playback.
5. Goes great with a PC. Lots of 360 "exclusives" are PC games, while Sony has tons of 1st party devs that only develop on the PS3.

It might help if you described why you want a console, and if it's simply the Blue Ray and games you 'might' play, then you'd probably be better off buying a $75 Blue Ray burner for your PC.

Both consoles are supposedly getting a refresh soon also, so would you rather buy a full price current gen console now, or the next version next year?

As for online, and all the posts mentioning no charge for the PSN... you get what you pay for - I know maybe one person who says PSN is better then Live. Plus, you don't have to pay $60/year for it either; there are constant sales going on. My current year long Live membership cost $19.99(and I got the latest Halo for free with it- sold it on Ebay for $27), and I'm fine with that for the service.

Xbox 360.

Multiplatform games just work better on it. For instance, using MW3 as a example, both versions look pretty damn close. However, you can install the WHOLE game onto your 360's HD. The PS3 only allows a 50MB install - than it proceeds to thrash your blu-ray drive all night long. Its just one example of the world coding for the PS3 as a afterthought. And this from one of the biggest franchises in gaming.

On the other hand, the PS3 has awesome exclusives (and these are usually coded correctly).

If you want to play games online and those games are multiplat, just get a 360. The cost of a year's worth of XBL is really wipe your azz money. Everybody hollars about it, but you can get a year's worth of Gold for 36 bucks often during the course of a year from Amazon or Buy.com. People should really stop sweating it. Also, XBL is so much more intuitive as it pertains to parties and grouping up - PSN's feels like a add-on bolted onto the platform.

I would say it depends on what games you want to play. Research what games you want and go for what ever those games are on.

I suggest finding out stuff like which controler style you like more, or which interface you like better.

Or better yet, go for which ever one is cheaper at this point in time!

And, of course there is the always popular option of going with what ever the majority of your friends have. It's always more fun to game with friends.
