Xbox360 VGA Cable question

Hey guys,

I have 360 (Pro) with Microsoft's own VGA cable. My monitors have native resolution of 1920x1080. Connecting the Xbox to them through VGA and settings resolution to 1920x1080 looks jaggy as hell.. I mean I can see thick pixels in my notifications that pop up on the screen.

Also I just played with the resolutions. 1280x720 looks exactly the same as 1920x1080.. what the heck?

The xbox outputs at 1280x720 which is being upscaled to the resolution which is why it looks lame

there is no difference between 720p and 1080p on the xbox
 
I read that the dashboard is SD only, but I don't know if that's true?

I tried both the VGA cable and HDMI into my 24" LCD (computer monitor) which can handle up to 1080p. Example; In Gears of War 2, the jagged edges are visible in either 720p or 1080p. The upscaler appears to work better on some games and like crap on others.
 
I've noticed the notifications are always pretty crappy and jagged, I don't think the resolution effects them at all, it's only the in game resolution. Plus, is there a switch for HD on the VGA cable? I don't think there is, but that could be it too. I've had friends who have had their 360 hooked up with it set to SD on the cable and they don't seem to notice that everyhting looks extra crappy.
 
on a related note to this...

i hook my 360 up to an asus monitor via VGA cable.

sometimes randomly, the screen will cut out but i will still get sound. it'll cut out for like 2-3 seconds then come back. this is usually like once in a 2 hour session, or not at all. sometimes maybe twice.

i also hooked up my PS3 vid HDMI to this monitor and had it on for about 6 hours and nothing cut out.

so i'm just wondering if anyone ever had this issue w/the VGA cable on 360 before or not.

yes, I had that problem with a 32" Westinghouse LCD.
