I need help connecting media center to a 360 on the network, i am almost going insane since i dont see where the problem is.
The 360 and the PC are both connected to a router where i opened
upnp UDP 1900 192.168.178.22 1900
remote media TCP 3390 192.168.178.22 3390
media center extender UDP 3776 192.168.178.22 3776
media streaming TCP 5555 192.168.178.22 5555
netw validation UDP 7777 192.168.178.22 7777
192.168.178.22 is the IP of my mediacenter PC, so i opened those ports for the 360 to connect.
The 360 has the IP 192.168.178.23
So...no matter how hard i try and set IPs and network configs...the XBOX does not see my PC.
On the PC; i played with installing MediaCenter as well as WMP11 and set all the right sharing options. In WMP11 i see the XBOX which i allowed access to the media.
When i try to install/setup the media-extender (as somewhere shown on MS website) i always get the error "no media extender found..must be a problem with your network or firewall".
I see the xbox now in my router, it has the IP and i see its MAC.
But i cannot even PING the XBOX which totally puzzles me.
My main help i need right now is where and what EXACTLY to open ports in the router....for the PC and/for the Xbox. WHAT ports to open/forwarf to what IP !!
I dont use a software firewall, just the router.
In the XBOX i can connect and test LIVE...it all works...just connecting to media on my PC doesnt work.
I did the same test on a brandnew install of Vista w/ media center since i though my mediacenter install on XP is hosed - but also here i couldnt connect.
Cheers,
G.
