The best advice I can give on buying used consoles, especially used 360s and PS2s, is to not do it at all.

The only exception to this rule is if a friend wants to sell one to you and you trust them and know they've taken good care of it.

I tend to horde games and systems rather than give them up, but the ONLY reason I've ever sold a system is because I had to replace it and I know I'm not alone on this.

i dunno ive had success with a 2 gamecube's,ps2, and an xbox

i did however had to return 2 larger ps2's to eventually just get a slim... but yeah. 4/6 is not bad :)

Long story short, I've traded 2 PS2s on craigslist for a six pack of Guinness each. Sold as is, warranty seal broken and repaired many times in the past, no controller, and both times the person said they hope frankensteining them will fix their PS2 as a last resort.

I didn't have the heart to tell them that the PS2 has like... half a dozen revisions and the parts might not be compatible.

just pay the extra "premium" and get a brand new one.

360 is one of the few electronics that i would NOT buy used.

I bought a regular 360 off of ebay and it turned out to be one of the originals that had just been sitting in some warehouse forever. 2 weeks after I got it the video failed and I returned it. Thankfully I got my money and shipping back.

I'd buy any system new...too many unknowns w/ a used one.
