XBox360: Any good RPGs?

EDIT 3: OFFICIAL: I ended up getting Mass Effect

I like playing games that have replay value and last a long time. I typically get 2-3 months out of each game I buy. So, what is the best RPG for the 360? I want something fun with a good story line and something I will be playing for months. I typically game about 6 hours a week, so something that takes 60+ hours non stop to beat would be awesome.

Of course, my "requirements" are "guidelines". And guidelines can be stretched or broken. I basically want a good RPG.

thanks!

EDIT: Did some snooping around. what about "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion"?
Mass Effect is sort of an RPG. Do RPG fans consider it a "true" RPG?

EDIT 2: It is down to Oblivion and Mass Effect. POLL!

Oblivion is better on a gaming PC because of the mods, but should still be 50+ hours of fun on a 360. It should play much better after the Fall update allows installing it to the 360 hard drive to reduce load times.

Mass Effect is great (again, better on PC) but only around 30 hours.

You can play Star Wars: KOTOR I-II which are 2 of the best RPGs ever, though again better on a PC since on the 360 these are 480p-resolution xbox1 games.

The 360 has a few Japanese RPGs, though if you have a PS2 there are piles of higher-rated and cheaper ones you could buy instead.

Load times on 360 Oblivion are fine. I would not let this dissuade you from buying it in the least.

Fallout 3 is also excellent.

Mass Effect is a bizarre game in that you'll have people claiming it takes them 15 hours to beat it and others saying 50.

Lost Odyssey is a _fantastic_ RPG, and it's got a fair amount of gameplay to it. The Last Remnant is also looking promising, ditto for Star Ocean 4.

EDIT: meh, I'll play nice.

Dave,
If you had to recommend Oblivion or Mass Effect, which would you recommend? I might grab oblivion at this point simply because you said it is a longer game.

Also, I read about "Lost Odyssey" and that is not of much interest to me.

360 RPGs that don't suck:

Oblivion
Fallout 3
Fable II
Eternal Sonata
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Penny Arcade Adventures, Ep I & II
Infinite Undiscovery
Tales of Vesperia

The Last Remnant is coming on 11/20. Star Ocean is coming on 3/3.

It's a tough one. Both sound like good games but Oblivon is a longer game (which I like) but Mass Effect sounds like it has a story that I would like more.

Mass Effect is on sale for $24.95 from Amazon today, add something else and get free shipping.

For Oblivion you might want the $57 Game of the Year edition since it includes the Shivering Isles expansion -- I haven't played that yet but it's supposed to be very good.

Oblivion is so open ended too...you can get lost doing so many side quests that you forget all about the main story.

i did not care for ME... it is more of a hybrid RPG, IMO.

These are my favorite games from the last few years. ME has a stronger story while still allowing a lot of freedom. Oblivion has more to do with a less-inspired story.

Play them both.

When I was playing Oblivion on my xbox, the loading times were absolutely ridiculous. It would take 10min to load cities, and at least a minute to open each barrel and chest. I ended up getting it for the pc. My case was definitely an exception, but thats what it was like for me.

I think I'm going with Mass Effect. The poll seems to agree. I think Oblivion will be on my future game list though.

Awesome feed back all! it was appreciated.

I got bored of Oblivion. It became repetitive. Talk to someone, get a mission, go to a cave kill everything. Wash rinse repeat.

Overall I liked Oblivion, but this comment is true.

I'd go with Mass Effect. I enjoyed that game much more. The story was a lot better.

Is there any reason why you didn't consider Fallout 3? Very engrossing story with side missions that become pretty addicting.

Oblivion will last you much longer, but Mass Effect has a better story and you can experience pretty much everything within 25hrs of play time. Oblivion took me about 30 hours for the main quest, and I still have not started on the 4 guild quests, the thieves guild, or even explored most of the world. It's ridiculously huge.

oblivion was not made for multiple play throughs. Once I beat all the storylines I quit and had no interest in start over.

I disagree. Just trying a different class and combat style changes the game tremendously. You can also be rather more violent if you choose to...

But, seriously, OP: get Fallout 3.
