XBOX - WRT54G Kicks Me Off My Wireless Lan Every So Often

Hey All,

So Get this, I have two(2) WRT54G Routers that are now "talking" to each other. Here is my setup.

WRT54G(1) -- Xbox (Downstaris)

WRT54G(2) -- Xbox(Upstairs)

We had four xbox systems (two on each router) turned on and connecting to each other wirelessly. We CAN play a System Link game of Halo 2 for about 10 to 20 minutes. After this time the WRT54G upstairs looses the connection for a second it seems. We will be in the middle of play and then both systems upstairs say "Lost Connection to Game". This leaves the two systems downstairs alone, and they are still playing.

Upstairs however, we need to back out of the game, restart our xbox systems and then we can REconnect to the same game we were playing 5 minutes earlier.

Is there anyway to prevent the systems upstairs from getting booted in the middle of gameplay????

Please help shed some light on this for me.

Thanks,
Skyphoxx

You could always return the one router that is disconnecting and replace it to see if it is simply a bad router.

Thanks, but I know the router is fine. I have both running FREEMAN firmware, and I'm kind of tricking one of them into thinking it's a bridge.

I've got it set up (finally) to be able to use XBOX system link. It's just that every three games or so, the game we had going stops and says that one of the groups disconnected, when in fact we did not.

This is aggrivating since we DO have it working, just not consistently.

I hope I get this figured out.

change the channel.. something is interfereing on the same freq..

Of Course! Now I feel like shooting myself in the foot. I'm gonna try it tonight.

If this works, you are ROCKtacular.

Thanks,

I tried it last night. The connection "hiccupped" at around 23 minutes. I tried channels 3, 13, 5 and 9.

It is killing me. Is there any "Advanced Settings" that might be interfering with it, like AFTERBURNER and the like?

Thanks,

I hope this is somewhat understandable...
Is there a way you can force the routers to only operate in 54mbps mode? Previously in my house, a roommate had a 11mbps wireless card.. and I have a 54mbps card. When it was just me on the network, everything was fine. When she would try to connect, the entire thing would drop down to 11mbps and I would be disconnected for a few seconds. The solution was for her to get a new wireless card (since forcing only 54mbps would not allow her to connect and 11mbps was too slow for me).

I'll go home and try that.

Right now I have both routers set to automatic(mbps). I'll set it to straight 54 and see what happens.

Something I noticed yesterday is that I have "Lazy WDS" checked. Now I have this set up to use WDS(It's the only way I could get the Xboxs to see each other). Do you think that "Lazy WDS" could be part of the problem???

I'll try that out too.

Thanks very much for replying.

Ok. Yesterday I set both routers to forced 54mbps. After that I started both xboxs and it was hiccuping like crazy. It would show me in the game lobby, but it would dissappear in a second, then reappear. It was blinking.

After that i set it back to auto. Last night we got through a game that lasted around 45 minutes before it booted me.

It seems my aggrivation with this will be eternal.

Any Ideas?
