XBox Woes???

Ok I 'm convinced at this wisdom. I will not play Xbox. I will go back and play Playstation, as soon as I can get it to read the Cds again. I'll just put a fan next to it to cool it off. it gets so hot it shuts off in the middle of game play. And just think of all the moneyIsave buying memory cards instead of a an expensive Xbox with its hardrive built in.

And Gee,I guess I'll get over the fact I can't see anything but lame kindergarten level games on PS and will never get to use the great graphics of the nVidea powered Xbox and the surround sound action in a game like Halo or Madden football. What do I care. The wisdom here has prevailed. I''l save my money now.

That's what happened to mine last weekend. DVD games/movies play just fine, but CD based (PSX, PS2, CD Audio) don't work at all.

I did a search on the net, but didn't find anything. Do you have any more info? What's causing it?

It gets mentioned in The Spot (see earlier post) at videogames.com quite often. Today, a guy wrote in and recommended taking two piece of scotch tape and placing them next to the center hole in the disc (looks like " l0l "). He said place them as close as possible and parrallel to each other. After he did that, it started playing his discs again.

Maybe you can try that? Seems the CDs are a lighter weight and this may help out getting to set right in the magnets that hold the CD.

I would, but mine's already at sony's repair center in Bristol, PA.

I think I will mention this when they call me with an estimate. I don't think I should pay for this problem.
