I have a wireless b network, a laptop w/wireless, 10/100 nics. I would like to know if I can have my laptop in the living room, use it as a gateway for my xbox and run xblive or xbconnect through it?

Thanx in advance.

Welcome to AnandTech Network Forum.

If your Laptop's Wireless can be configured to run Ad-Hoc, you need to get a Linksys WET11.

The WET11 is a Driverless Client Module that can be installed on a game box, and will be able to connect Ad-Hoc to your Wireless Laptop.

I don't know about Live! but yes you can with XBConnect. Assuming you don't want to purchase a WET11, you can use a CAT5 cable and hook it up to your ethernet port/card on your laptop. On XBConnect however, you need XBC 3.1 to get this setup to work, however. My cousin tried getting Halo working with 2.3 and it never worked, and no one else got it to work either according to him. The only main problem is latency - if you're going to be hosting a huge game with a huge amount of players over wireless, FORGET ABOUT IT. My cousins works fine with one player but if he hosts a game where he has 3-4 people it lags very badly.

I've attempted that already. In network connections it lists my wifi connection as connected and my 10/100 connection as NOT connected. If I attempt to bridge connections, It drops my connection very low and still won't let me connect. Is that even neccesary?
