"Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) has released its weekly report on the interactive entertainment industry, this time focusing on the week at retail of November 18-24, the time period which was kicked off by the launch of Nintendo's GameCube.
CSFB analysts estimate that over 469,000 GameCube units were sold during its first week of availability at retail. A total of 810,000 software units were also sold, for a launch tie-in ratio of 1.7?a number which reflects the rather limited selection of titles on hand for the system?s debut. Luigi?s Mansion was the top selling videogame on any platform for the week, moving an estimated 257,000 units.
Xbox console sales for the week were estimated at 186,000 units, bringing the total number of consoles sold to 556,000 units in the nine days the system has been on store shelves. Halo continues to be the top selling game for the Xbox, moving approximately 97,000 units over the November 18-24 time period. The tie-in ratio for the Xbox now sits at 2.4, as a total of 1.32 million titles for the console have been sold."
Looks like the Xbox did outpace the GC... Xbox moved around 191,000 copies of Halo since it was released till Nov 17... So in reality, Halo has outsold Luigis Mansion in total units(well not by much, the next numbers should hit late in the week). It will be interesting to watch as the weekly numbers come out..
