The PS2. Why? Because the Xbox controller sucks for driving games.
Really? Why do you say that?

I think the analog triggers on the Xbox controller are much better for precise accelleration and braking.

I prefer to mash down the PS2 buttons. They are flat, which is easier on my fingers, and I get a good sense of how much pressure I need to get whatever response I am looking for. I feel I can be more accurate with the PS2 controller, in terms of varying the pressure to get the desired reaction.

I hate the Xbox's triggers. The PS2 is just one light click and the vehicle shifts. So much better than the long pull of the Xbox trigger.

For racing games the PS2 wins easily. While Project Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox is an excellent game it tries to be a mix between aracade and sim. Theres also really no other good racing games on the system. Sure it has other racing titles but most of them are average at best.

For sports, that can go either way. ESPN titles are good and in some case better then EA ones. I think its more prefrence on this one.

For FPS, the Xbox wins easily on this catergory. The PS2 doesnt have that many good FPS.

If you have broadband and plan to go online the Xbox does have the superior online plan. But the PS2 one is decent as well.

Overall, i think you need to think if you want a awesome sim racing game or a sim/aracade mix one. That will determine which system to get. The PS2 IMO has the advantage in the racing genre while Xbox has the advantage in the FPS, sports id say are tied.

I really do enjoy the Xbox Hardware over the PS2. Higher quality Sound, including your own custom soundtrack, online racing, better controller, crisper graphics, practicaly unlimited space for saved games, replays, ghosts, etc....

SegaGT is like GT3, on a smaller scale, buy your car, upgrade it, etc etc. Fills the GT3 gap pretty good. SegaGT Online is coming out this week, lots of extra cars, tracks, and online play, very excited about that. PGR2 came out today, I enjoyed the first.

GT3 is still the king of racing games, but I do believe SegaGT and PGR2, coupled with the extra benefits of owning the Xbox (mentioned above), really fill the gap by not having GT3 though.

I have both a PS2 and an Xbox in my house, Xbox first, then we got a PS2 not too long ago. I was completely satisfied with just playing SegaGT.

better hardware
better sound
shit software
and on and on
Sega GT while fun is far from Gran Turismo.

The only gripe I had with GT3 was the lack of cars. There were relatively few cars in it (at least compared to GT2 which had damn near everything). But an easter egg, if you all didn't notice... the Rx7 in GT3 actually wasn't produced IRL until 3 or 4 months after the game came out. So GT3 was really a sneak peak at it.

Please don't mind this PS2 fanboy beating off in a dimly lit room...he is just sad and lonely. 🙁:brokenheart:

Ouch! 😀

In my first post in this thread, I said "GT3 is the king of driving games. And I think it's safe to assume that GT4 will carry on the tradition. While PGR2 is also an excellent game, it's no Gran Turismo."... After a couple of weeks with PGR2, I have changed my mind.

PGR2 is the best racing game out there on any platform, period. (The integration of the online component in the single player game is nothing short of brilliant.) Whether or not GT4 can reclaim the title is yet to be seen.

(Please take note that I own both consoles... I just call them as I see them. 🙂 )

Just buy a cheap beater car.

Sorry, I'll leave the thread.

I do have to admit that I kind of liked the racing game that came with my Xbox. I didn't get to play it much because the Xbox died a few days after I got it, but it was still ok.

Still have the game?

Remeber, you have to shell out $60 for XBOX Live to go online with PGSR2. PS2 online is free!
As with most everything in life... "You get what you pay for." 🙂

Nah, I returned the whole lot. I called up MS and talked to them for about 10 minutes to get it fixed. Best tech support call ever, by the way. Anyway, he said it might be a faulty hard drive or something, so he told me to return it to Walmart and get a new one.

I returned it and walked out with my money. 🙂

I just didn't really enjoy playing it.
