Why is it so common that people who label the GameCube platform as immature are the ones who feel it's necessary to address it by names like "GaymeCube" or "LameCube"?
My guess would be that they think it's funny. Personally it's a joke I have yet to tire of. Why is it so common that lamecubers get so defensive when I call their console a kiddie console?
Because it's not a kiddie console you big meanie!! Now stop calling it that or I'm going to tell my mommy on you!!! ;):p

The thing that alot of people fail to realise is that the GameCube aint a kiddy console. This is reflected by alot of games on GameCube.
Most "gamers" see the supposidly kiddy games on Nintendo systems and instantly come up with the conclusion that becuase it doesnt have blood in it, its a kiddy game thats not worth playing.

If these people were proper gamers, then they would look past that and appriciate these so called kiddy games for the gaming masterpieces that they really are.

And while im on about these people, there are even more people who look at the Xbox, PS2, and GC, compare them, and one of the first things that they see/complain about, is the lack of DVD playback on GameCube. So what, big whoop. GameCube was designed to be a dedicated games console, thats easy for developers to develop games for, and its doing its job just fine. Most people have a way of playing DVDs without their consoles. Where as both XBox and PS2 are aimed to be multiplatform entertainment systems, of which the PS2 fails to do, due to the crap DVD playback on it. Another thing that more experianced console owners notice, is the lack of DD5.1 on GameCube. As ive said, the GameCube is aimed at the gaming market, and the majority of it doesnt have a fancy sound set up, hence why on standard TV systems, GameCube uses Stereo sound. And for people with these fancy sound set-ups, it offers the option of ProLogic2.

A true gamer would see past the crap that many people and single format mags say about other consoles/games. If a game is good then play it. So what if its on a console from a company thats got a kiddy image.

I`m thinking of opening a gaming church. Worshiping the three gaming gods. Shiragu Miyamoto(everything nintendo), Warren Spector(deus ex) & John Carmack(you need to ask?)
lol

I`m sorry guys (not really), but i feel very strongly about this, and it really pisses me off when you get these pratts who "think" they know about gaming, critising everything nintendo.

What exactly makes your Xbox so mature and grown up? The blood, boobs and cursing? Oh yes that definately is a sign of maturity.

You have some issues if you have to have blood, boobs and cursing in your games for you to feel like an adult. Or do you just think your buddies wont think you're cool if there's no boobs, blood and cursing in your games?

Grow up!

Amen to that. (Sorry)
Personally, i dont give a sh1t about what other people think of the games i like. If i games good, i`ll play it.

Theres nothing about XBox that makes it more mature than GameCube. If you were to count the number of "mature" games and take a percentage of them from the total number of games on the Xbox, and did the same for GameCube, they`d probably be about even. Its just that the GameCubes bigger games, that get the press, over shadow the mature games, and many reviewers and critics forget about the more mature games, and concentrate on the Marios & Zeldas.

The fact that some people here are calling that GameCube, gaycube or lamecube conferms that although they act all big and hard, and think that they`re ten men for playing games with blood, bad cursing & nudity, they are in fact the real kids here. As only someone with a kids mind would have thought up and used these micky takes on the GameCubes name quite as much as they have done.
Its been said here before, but, GROW UP.

I Didnt.
Could be useful to some, but couldnt you have just linked to two pages, the one with the GC list, and the one with the XBox list?

But where's the fun in that?

Gamecube! Has some of the best exclusive games (duh!) and even the kiddie ones that a lot of people bash are fun. Pikmin for example.

I really don't think you can go wrong with either system. But the Gamecube will cost you much less in the long run since the console itself is cheaper and the games are cheap too. You'll love your own GCN games that you won't care about the exclusive XBox ones.

GC has a good assortment of kids games, which is what I want to get one for. The XBox seems to be focused on the teen-adult crowd.

Wow, that settles it for me. Almost every good XBox/PS2 game is out or is coming out for the PC. Almost none of the GC games will ever see the PC. I can't see plunking down that much money for games that I could play on something I already own.

Kids games?
Just cos Zelda is cel shaded, pikmin is focused on cute insects and mario has a water gun, then these are kids games. How wrong you are.
HOWEVER, i can see where you are coming from, these are the type of games that a kid would like, but they are also excellent games for adult gamers as well.

Honestly, I think a big part of liking the GC comes down to whether or not you regard many of the Nintendo titles as "juvenile" or not. Personally, I grew up with many of these characters so even though games like Super Smash Bros. Melee or Mario Kart may appear to be kid-oriented, I'll play them if they're fun.

Agreed. I played Mario Kart on a friend's Super Nintendo when I was young(er) and man was it fun :)

And that's the key, fun. Lol, I know this sounds strange, buy to me there was actually a fair degree of skill and strategy involved in mario kart. I remember after we had completed all the tracks on all the difficulty lvls, we would race around the battle arenas chasing each other with green shells, practicing our banana peel drops etc etc :D

That's not strange at all! People almost never realize how much strategy/skill are involved in a lot of games! The original Mario Kart is definitely one of those games.

With X-box the developers haven't even fully utilized it's capabilities yet. It will be around alot longer. And even when a new version comes out all your games should be compatible with the new console. Nintendo doesn't do that.

Go x-box.

Personally, I don't care if a console sort of "peters off." It's all about the quality of the games that DID come out (and generally, I find that the quality of the titles decays pretty rapidly as the console gets older). Right now, I pretty much only play Super Smash Bros. for the N64. A friend and I recently bought new N64 controllers just so we could play at our peak.

Made a bid for a Gamecube on Ebay, comes free with Spyro (not why I went for it).
