Yup, fixed and in the hands of a lucky trader who took the risk to deal with me 😉

Prolly added a 160GB and a ton of media to it before it shipped though 🙂

I have only had 1 xbox that I was unable to fix and it had an overheatingn mc3x chip. No matter what 10 seconds after bootup it would lockup. Prolly a voltage regulator or something but I don't get that deep.

And thank you for the compliment 🙂

Dave

That's waayyy too expensive. I got mine modded with a chip and dvd kit for $50. The guy also showed me how to upgrade the hard drive and backup games.

Softmod info can be found at xbox-scene.com and any other info on modding. I have found after doing MANY, that the softmod is the only way to go. Easy, reversable and cheap.

I would highly suggest going to an EBgames or a FUNCOLAND and getting a used original copy of 007 Agent Under Fire. DO NOT GET THE PLATINUM HITS as it does not work 🙁
An original copy of the non platinum hits costs about $8. You will need this or Splinter Cell or Mechassault. Any of the 3 games will get you what you need.

Is that a good deal ?
Show I mod the Xbox right away or wait and use it for some time before modding ?

no, that is a horrible deal. chips cost about $40 for a good chip, and the dvd software is freeware. the installation process itself isn't worth more than $30 IMO. i have installed plenty of these things and they are not that hard to install at all. it takes about 30 mins total from taking apart the xbox to putting it back together. the soldering part takes like 5-10 minutes.

i would not pay more than $70 if i were you to get an xbox modded. if you are in maryland, i would do it for you for $70.

Get this.

I have installed probably 20-30 of those. The have an on/off switch too so you can turn your chip on and off (if you want to go on xbox live ever).

If you plan on NEVER going on xbox live, you mine as well softmod, which is the software mod that someone explained in above posts somewhere.

i personally would recommend that chip though. its only $35 as well.

not great, but avg price. The DVD kit is about $30. Having mine chip-modded cost $75.

i thought from his post, that he meant the guy is going to install the region free dvd kit on his xbox. no actual hardware.

and if thats the case, it is freeware and not worth even $.01

I typically charge $55 for a TSOP flash/HD upgrade. Or $75-$100 for a chip install. It all depends on the situation.

Price sounds sorta high to me imo.

Josh

Wow you charge way too much. The guys up here do it for $30 tops for a chip install. It's a very simple mod.

chip to me is the only way to go if you plan on playing online....... the chip is only $35 and easy to install
softmod if you don't play online and are scared to open your box

All sounds good until the D0 goes up in smoke. My recommendation. SOFTMOD 🙂

Dave

you suck at solder.

soldering the D0 is easy. try cordoning it off with electrical tape. 😉

NO!, You suck at engrish and I own an SMT manufacturing business and Metcal Irons. I have fixed a ton of others botched mods. I am a fantastic solderer and my English is fantastic. You should be careful what words you let fly,and by the way. Softmod is the only way to fly. Cost=$0.00 and the end result is exactly that of a modchip. Hard disk access!! Why spend $20 or $25 and run the risk of damage when you don't have too.

Thanks for your comments.

Dave

Where do I get the info for softmod ? It sounds great ..

For the average person soldering is a delicate task which will invariably end in tears, especially on the newer XBoxes. I greatly preffer the Xecuter 2.3+ with the "pushpin" style (Puyo-Pins) inputs. (Provided you don't have a v1.6+ XBox.) And before all the Puyo-haters come out of the woodwork, kiss my hairy yellow butt; I have been using an Xecuter 2.3B+ for a full year now and have never had a problem with it, ever. Ever. Installing it was a breeze, albeit somewhat different than what the installation instructions indicated I should expect. (Flashing Orange and Green rather than Flashing Red and Green... meh)

Still, it can be a task and a half getting all the settings right, installing the proper Dashboard, BIOS and utilities, etc. If the guy will do it for $110 and guarantees to buy you a new XBox if he f%$#s up it might be worth it. Unless you think you can do it on your own. Really, it's not that hard.
