Some one offered to mod an XBOX for $115 inclusive of DVD Kit and mod chip. Geo force or something.

Is that a good deal ?
Show I mod the Xbox right away or wait and use it for some time before modding ?

It only has a 3 month warranty, so maybe wait until the warranty expires in case of a manufacturing defect?

Someone offered to MOD his xbox for $110 not sell him one already done.

I would say yes it there were all the apps, emulators, and games that come with it. It still works as a stock box and who needs xbox live when you got KAI instead for free.

All sounds good until the D0 goes up in smoke. My recommendation. SOFTMOD :)

I typically charge $55 for a TSOP flash/HD upgrade. Or $75-$100 for a chip install. It all depends on the situation.

Price sounds sorta high to me imo.

Do I need a DVD kit for playing region free games ?
I thought the mod chip will take care of it.

you suck at solder.

soldering the D0 is easy. try cordoning it off with electrical tape. ;)

too expensive imo. My mod chip + installation only cost me $20. I believe there's a forum on xbox-scene.com where you can find someone local to mod your xbox for you, and there's a chance they don't charge as much.

that's way expensive ... check craigslist or xbox-scene, it's usually $60 including the chip. DVD kit is not worth imo ....

someone gave you a mod chip plus installed it for you for $20? You got a sweet deal.

When I got mine modded, I paid $90...$45 for the chip and $45 for the labor (included installation of the chip, loading of the BIOS and apps, and putting in a bigger hard drive I supplied). I haven't regretted it since :)

think about throwing in a bigger hard drive too. only necessary if you want to back up your games for faster loading times...etc.
otherwise, you can just stream, movies, pics, music from your computer.

So If I need to play region free games, I don't need the dvd kit. The mod chip would work fine ?

I paid $20 for the modchip and installed it myself. Seems like a much cheaper alternative, if you know what you're doing.

Where do you get the mod chip ? If its simple I'll do it myself. I might as well get a additonal hard drive.

NO!, You suck at engrish and I own an SMT manufacturing business and Metcal Irons. I have fixed a ton of others botched mods. I am a fantastic solderer and my English is fantastic. You should be careful what words you let fly,and by the way. Softmod is the only way to fly. Cost=$0.00 and the end result is exactly that of a modchip. Hard disk access!! Why spend $20 or $25 and run the risk of damage when you don't have too.

Thanks for your comments.
