xbox live players per game

is there a site that lets you know how many players are playing a specific game on live? even if its a monthly update it would be nice to know in case theres an older game id like to play live.

Wrong forum. No site that I know of, but Halo 3 usually has upwards of 300,000-400,000 at peak hours.

yea, i play halo 3, they even get more. halo 2 not as many anymore, but there must be a place to find updated numbers.
im talking about older games, this way i wouldnt have to buy every game to see if anyone is playing it.

The closest to that is Major Nelson putting out the Top 10 games played for the 360, Live Arcade, and original Xbox every week. But he doesn't give out hard numbers. It at least gives you an idea of what games are being played though.

now im really pissed. got a game to try on live and find out that not all xbox games are supported on the 360... thats crazy.
flatout 1 does work but not flatout 2 ?

Some of the bigger games show the number playing at the main MP screen. COD4 and Halo3 do this.

heres another question that came up. how do you find, or search for specific players.
i got a game invite from someone that was not on my friends list and not on the recent players list... so it must be possible.

no there are no websites that post people per game. only some games say in the game how many players are on the game. bungie.net also has the amount of players on halo 3 as it does in the actual game.

about your other question, you can check friends lists of your friends now. it could have been from there. also you can still be on someone elses recent players list even if you aren't on theres. you could have played a match w/them and then they got off xbox360 but you continued to play for a while, clearing him from your recent player list. but when he hops back on you will be on his list.
