yesterday I got burnout 3 and mortal kombat: deception in the mail from peeps off the fs/ft forums. well this makes 5 games I have for xbox live. i also just got it like 2 weeks ago fyi. I have espn nfl 2k5, crimson skies, tiger woods 2k5, burnout 3, and mortal kombat deception.

all i can say is that i am really impressed with xbox live. at first, when it was released, i thought it was such a dumb idea because consoles didnt belong online. however, after playing these games, boy has my mind changed! it ROCKS! there is absolutely no lag at all! it feels as though you are playing a friend right next to you. and instead of playing the AI, which gets very boring usually in games (especially competition games), this is awesome!

i am just very happy with it and the only gripe i have is that i did not get it earlier in my xbox career :(

First and foremost, stop talking like that

And yes, Burnout 3 kicks ass, as soon as Halo 2 comes out I'm gonna subscribe to Live

How do you like Burnout 3? I almost bought it a few days ago, but I opted for Rallisport Challenge 2 and ESPN NHL 2K5, instead.

I love live. I play PGR2 and Mechassault on live.

lol i did it on purpose :p

and so far, i was kind of disappointed with burnout 3. although i didnt have much time to play it last night on live, i have beaten it single player with my friend. but on live, seems like you can only do team road rage, which kinda sucks. it is also ALOT harder on live than on the computer, when trying to take out people. but when you do, it feels great heh.

and yes, halo 2 will rock :). i already played it on xbconnect at a friends house, but i want to play it on live bad. i'll have mine nov 9th :).

What are some of the best xbox live games? Is NHL 2k5 good?

I've been thinking about getting xbox live, I had it before but I evnetually got rid of it becuas I never used it. But now I have a net connection near my TV. Also, with halo 2 coming out I'm sure I'll use it.

burnout 3, as far as single player, is by FAR the best racing game i have ever played. nothing have i ever had so much fun with. the sense of speed is unmatched in any other car racing game EVER.

but as i said, i hardly played it on live yet, so i don't wanna comment on that yet.

its not laggy if your connection is good. i have a 3.0/384 line and its fine for me, slower BB connections might have issues tho

xbconnect is good ... if you are a cheapo

xbconnect is a PITA to start games sometimes, and it sucks because you HAVE to use your computer to connect to it. the speeds on xbconnect depend on the host, as there is no central server as with xbox live. so if the host has a crappy connection, the game has a crappy lag.

also, the userbase on xbconnect is no where NEAR that of xbox live. the game selection on there is also nto NEARLY as large as the xbox live compatible games.

if you really wanna take your xbox online, live is the way to go. trust me, i have played pretty much every xbox game, and tried many of them on xbconnect, and xbconnect is just so-so, especially compared to the xbox live service.

I'm buying xbox live for sure. But I wanted to play Halo (the original) online, and doesn't xbox connect do that by emulating a system link through the internet?

Yes, don't get me wrong ... xbconnect is great for older games to play online, like Halo. I have had plenty of great games of Halo on there.

However, the majority of the new online enabled games are built for xbox live. The interface of xbox live is just great as well. Basically you can play a QUICKGAME, which is an option so far on all 5 games that I have for xbox live. You click xbox live, it signs you on, then you click on QUICKGAME, and it basically starts loading right then and there, and you are ready to play your game. however some other games, like burnout 3, have different types of games, so you click quickgame, then select your type, and you are ready.

xbox live rocks! It makes all online enabled games have ten times more longevity.

Xbconnect is alright if you're really cheap. I hated having to run back and forth from my living room to my room trying to get a game going. And it never worked with my router.

that sh!tty software only works with system link games and nothing else. most games dont even bother with it now and they just go for straight xboxlive multiplayer

You Beat Burnout3 Single player? Damn. There's ilke hundreds of races and getting Gold in each of them takes forever. Only game I've played on live so far is Links and it's fun but I want to get more games to take on there and see how it goes.
