Xbox Live Communicator

After breaking the Xbox Live communicator headset that came with my subscription, I've been looking to upgrade to a more durable, quality headset. Does anybody know if I have to buy headsets made specifically for the Xbox, or if I can purchase computer ones and plug them in to the controller?

I would think the only thing holding you back would be the connector on the little memory-slot box. Not sure if it's a unique connector or not, someone else would have to tell you that.

If you still have the "module" that goes into the controller, then a standard cell-phone headset will work perfectly. that is what I use every day, and I very much prefer it to the bulky xbox headset.

edit: I think that a computer one will not work, since they are typically "headphone jack" sized.... cell phone ones look the same but have a smaller plug. (i don't know the actual sizes, so someone correct my terminology. but, cellphone sized ones will work.

If you're talking about the commnicator dongle that plugs into the xbox controller, then I say just stick with the official MS one. If you are talking about a headset that plugs into the dongle, then a simple cell phone headset or any other headset that uses a 2.5mm connector will do.
