Xbox Live! 2.0 $34.98 @ Target B&M

This one is floating around the bargain forums. Supposedly the 1.0 kits are $24.98, but I couldn't find one. The 2.0 kits at $34.98 are still a good price, and it comes with Tetris Worlds full game and Moto GP demo. I grabbed one.

My Target only had two on the shelf- it appears to be a national deal. The side of the box says the 2.0 offer is good to 3/31/04, I guess they are upgrading fairly soon to the $60+ yr price scheme.

Price for the 2.0 with Tetris in a number of places is now $25. Maybe less depending on your particular store. I picked one up two days ago.

Whats the difference between 1.0 and 2.0? I actually bought xbox live when it first came out so I'd have 1.0 I guess, but I have yet to actually hook it up. What changed about it?

I too wonder what is the difference between version 1 and 2? I haven't tried online yet but do have the ability (router, cable modem etc) so I was thinking about it, but wondered what is the difference between 1 and 2 (so if I find 1 cheap I know I am ok to buy it) etc.

Did some research and the only difference I can see between xbox live 1.0 and 2.0 is that 2.0 has a different demo game bundle and probably comes with the 2.0 software on the cd. Buying live 1.0 just means you have to download the 2.0 software update through the xbox live control panel. So unless you really want the demo games, there isn't much difference between the 2 retail packages.

Uh, there are many improvements to Live! 2.0, many. Jeraden is correct in that if you buy or at sometime in the past bought a 1.0 box you're safe - the upgrade is free. The user interface is improved, there are new chat features..go to gamespot and poke around or to www.xbox.com

You know how those of us who bought Live when it first came out are going to get billed soon for another year, does anyone think that we could load this thing on our Xboxes and extend our subscription for a year for the low price of $34.98 instead getting billed $60 soon?

I somehow doubt it, but maybe there is a way.

Yeah you can do it. There is an option to pay for Live either: monthly, annually or via subscription code. I'm pretty sure you need the new 2.0 dashboard (that you can download from Live assuming the servers aren't still slammed).

It figures this hot deal would come out right after I ordered my Live 2.0 from ebgames.com!

I haven't even received it yet but at least ebgames is throwing in a copy of "Phantasy Star Online". Not my kind of game but free is free and maybe I can sell it? 😉

I picked one up the other night for $24.98 (Version 2). I am gonna try to use the code to re-up for the next year. I will let you know when I do if it works. By the way, this was the Target in Fredericksburg, VA - they had about 10 kits, all at the same price.

Very interested to hear if this works!

Well, entered the subscription code in the subscription section of XBox live. It said succesful and changed my renewal information to annual at a cost of $0.00 when it expires on 11/7/03. So -- it looks like it worked, but I won't know for sure until 11/8/03. My guess is it'll work - it certainly changed my subscription info in the first box. Good luck!
