Has anyone (other than me) hooked their XBOX to an HDTV with component cables? I was wondering what the graphics looked like on other setups. I have a 47" widescreen HDTV, and with my XBOX hooked to the component inputs, the box set to 480p, 1080i, and 16x9, I get jaggies everywhere. Is this just a limitation of the games at that high resolution? Before, I was using the standard composite cables, in 4:3 non-progressive mode, and there were no apparent jaggies. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are very sharp in 480p, it just looks like there is no anti-aliasing going on at all at that resolution. Thanks!

You've answered your own question :)

HD resolutions are going to reveal many of the in game artifacts that were masked by the interlaced picture on SDTV. Along those same lines, when you went to 480p you also lost the inherent Anti-Aliasing of interlaced standard television. As you can tell, most of the games on the XBOX aren't using any AA at all, so the picture quality you described sounds pretty acurate.

Solution? 720p or 1080i games, or developers start utilizing AA..

Current games only support 480i/480p and don't use AA. So while it'll look sharper in 480p, the jaggies will be more apparent. (especially on a large screen)

What games are you playing?

I'm playing Halo, NHL Hitz, DOA3. Although I haven't tried DOA3 on the HDTV yet.
