xbox hi-def cables: worth the money?

i just got a new sony wega as a present last night and its the first TV for me that has component inputs. i hooked up the xbox using svideo and it already looks better than the RCA video cable. i'm wondering if its worth the extra money to buy the hi-def wire that has component output. i will be using the xbox for games and movies.

thanks

Iono if its worth it over s-video. How big is the tv? At say 36, I'd say it isn't worth it over S-video. Larger then that and it might be.

it's definitely worth it. I used to have S-video and switched up. The colors are much clearer and radiant. What's the difference? $20? Buy them and test it out, if you don't like it, return them.

He never said if its HD or not though. I know that non-HD tv's don't support progressive scan (atleast to my knowledge). with that said, before i got my new tv this weekend, i had it hooked up to a 27" wega that did not support HD or pscan, yet it had component videos. and i can tell you, component video makes a HUGE difference compared to normal AV cables. i can't compare it to SVideo though because i went straight from the normal yellow cable to component on it.

however, now playing games in 480p and a few in 720p, i must say that my new tv is beautiful 🙂

Um...what money? They're like $5 on ebay, that's next ot nothing when compared to the actual microsoft ones, and the work all the same. I got the cheap ones for my philips 30" widescreen hdtv and Halo2 looks better than ever.

Mad Catz component cables at Best Buy

Get these for $10 from Best Buy, if you're uncomfortable with Ebay. I tried in-store pickup but they couldn't find it instore so they offered me free ground shipping to ship it to me. You might be able to find some in-store. They come with hookups for ps2 and xbox, so if you have both then that's an added bonus.

Yes, get the components. You bought the TV for better quality picture, and you'll need cables to carry better quality signal. Plus, Halo 2 in 480p is very nice indeed.
