clicking/ticking is the sign of a bad hard drive. usually they cannot be saved when they click all the time. Sometimes upon startup, even in computer HDs, you will here a slight click---save the contents of the HD right away, the drive is on its way out.

I've had this happen to me before, just thought that the single click sound upon bootup of my computer was normal. Then one day its clicked constantly.

Try turning it on every now and then... It might just come back to life for you to get your saved games onto a memory card.

Take a look around for used Xbox hd's... They can be had pretty easily.
