Also if it does not work... Then how can I make it work... I mostly want to play on XBOX Live... Please help me... thanks :)

I believe the xbox hard drives are locked to the unit. You'd have to use software to unlock it first, then install it on the new system and relock it.

Seems to me when I looked up the xbox dvd drives at ebay, some dealers are referring to them as "plug and play." It's also possible to just replace the laser unit, which you could conceiveably harvest from the good drive.

Another suggestion I've read of is to adjust the laser voltage, but it's late and I don't seem to have any links at hand regarding that. Good luck, and update us on what course you take.

Its actually pretty simple... Inside the XBOX is just a small computer... regular hard drive and everything... unplug it, put the new hard drive in and run one of the boot CD's from XBOX-Scene... it will format and partition as well as install the dashboards and everything for you... then your done :)

He wants to play on Live, dude ... swapping the drive will probably cause him to lose that if he doesn't go through the MS channels. :(
