So I queued up some Oblivion downloads last night (from 2006/2007) because they were having a sale on them yesterday (thanks Queasy).

I get home last night and fire up my xbox and the first one downloads fine, the other two get to 1% then throw that error code in the summary. I googled a bit and found one of two problems... either the content is no longer on the xbox servers any longer or I should just try again later and that a lot of people are getting this message because of the NXE. I would imagine it's the former because of the age of them and the fact that one of them worked. I also did a system update this morning before leaving for work and that downloaded fine.

Further complicating things, I reset my xbox live ID password last night so I could download those updates from the web (forgot my pass) and so when I log in, it says that I cannot connect to Messenger but everything else works fine. I am able to sign in. I tried to recover my gamertag too just to make sure and that worked fine as well. It still wont let me connect to Messenger or download those two updates... but it did let me apply the system update this morning.

Any thoughts/help? If the content is truly gone why the fuck is it on their website and why did it let me buy it? Will I be refunded for this?

I did the first step already and it didn't help.

I didnt do the second one because I know my connection to live works (the update this morning).

Would this have anything to do with me changing my password and/or not being able to sign into Messenger?

Don't know. Try finding something Free to download and seeing if you still have a problem.

If you still have a problem after that, my suggestion would be to call Xbox support.

Ugh their support fucking sucks, at least the one time I had to call...

I got the free system update today and I got one of the 3 oblivion packs last night so it seems like it's working, just not those two.

ugh their support needs to fucking listen, I told them exactly what I've already tried and she won't stop reading her script telling me shit I just got done explaining that I've already done. This happened last time too, now I'm on hold for her supervisor because her script ran out of options.

well that was completely unhelpful, they say there is no problem with the content yet I still cannot get it.

I guess I'll just try another day?

well as a follow up, here is how I fixed it so if anyone sees this they can remedy it since the xbox live support was fucking worthless.

If you change your password, make sure you use the jewel to reset your messenger password because that was the problem. I tried again to download the files and they still wouldn't work, I finally found the place to change messenger ID password and once I did that, it worked like a charm.

Not sure why the messenger ID should have anything to do with this but alas, it worked.
