This is a supply issue from somewhere. Obviously the've had a shortage of product somewhere and getting it to the Us is hard right now. Still going to be an awesome unit

You guys catch this:

<< Analysts had already speculated that Xbox faced production delays because of a design flaw in the motherboard, the main computer part of the machine. They said the Friday announcement just reinforced that. >>

It'll still kick the GameCube's ass. ;)

However, I still don't get why that story said that this delay is indicitive of a previous rumor about a motherboard flaw. If there really was a motherboard flaw, delaying it a week would be hardly enough time to fix the flaw.

They're not only delaying it a week. Notice how MS has backed off it's original estimate of ship date units. There are various indications on xbox sites that we'll be lucky if there are 400,000 units at launch although with the extra week we may see more than that.

They're not only delaying it a week.

Read this: The software giant's planned new computer game system - its first real foray into the hardware business - will now be available Nov. 15, the company said Friday... The previous release date was Nov. 8. That's one week.

Notice how MS has backed off it's original estimate of ship date units.

Uhh, where did you get that idea. Here's MS only comment on the units situation: Previously, the company said it would ship 600,000 to 800,000 machines for the now-scrapped Nov. 8 launch. O'Rourke said the company was no longer using that number, but wouldn't elaborate. That comment doesn't tell us any definite number, so we can't conclude anything worth jack.

Learn to read please. I said they're not only delaying it a week but there are also supply issues. Thus, they are delaying it a week PLUS other issues.

Second, what do you think, they're upping units and not saying a word? Come on. Do me a favor and again read. I said in addition to this statement there are various xbox sites reporting unit issues, that's where the 400k units comes from.

yah i posted this in ot along with other news. it is projected they will only launch with 300,000 units rather than the 600-800k they promised. reports are coming in from retailers about cuts. yow.

edit: should have said that msft is contacting retailers saying they wont be able to match preorders and that some folks wont be getting them. the whole idea behind the pre-order :)

Defintely looks like it. Several sites have stopped preorders altogether due to this.
