I just bought a XBOX Controller S to USB converter cable so I can use my Controller S on my PC and was wondering WHICH actual drivers you feel are the BEST under WIN XP?

I have seen the PSX gamepad drivers that seem to also work, XCTRL, XID, and others

which ones do you all like?

Oddly, why would you want to use the xbox controller on anything? Its probably on the Top 100 list of most poorly designed products. The thing makes the hand hurt just looking at it.

I actually like how the controller feels. The old giant original X-Box controller that is. Doesn't feel like it was crafted for the wee people.

For real. Too many controllers are cramped, like the PS2.

Does the USB converter support force feedback?

Where can I find the PSX gamepad drivers for the PC?

guys, does anyone have an answer to my actual question?......Im really not looking for moral discussions on WHY I got this. I just want to know what other people who have this, feel are the BEST drivers for it....thanks

Btw, I have EXTENSIVELY used almost every major PC gamepad and firmly beleive the CONTROLLER S pad feels and responds the best....that is why I have done this in the first place. My Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power pad has been collecting dust ever since.

Im just looking to settle on the best drivers

Yes, Rumble ( Force Feedback ) works on most of the games

HAH! The ps2 controller is easily the best controller for about any game except halo. The rest stinks. If you play sports, fighting games, racing games, basically ANY game, the PS2 has the best layout. ALSO I went to Radio shack a couple weeks ago, and I saw they had PS2 to USB and XBOX to USB converters....might be easier for those of you who have a radioshack nearby and dont want to order on the net

I'm much more interested in a PC controller for my XBOX (i.e. keyboard and mouse).

Hardly.

PS2's controllers can't compete with Xbox's triggers for variable gas/break.
Sports are about the same, I have no complaints with each controller.
Fighting is about even, though sometimes the black/white on the Xbox is hard to hit. Though I do like the analog on the Xbox alot better than the PS2. Evens out for me.
FPS games are easily won with Xbox's configuration.

The PS2 controllers SUCK for fighting games! The ONLY way I play fighting games on the PS2 is with a joystick. The XBox controllers are MUCH better! I'll take a joystick over any gamepad for fighting games, but the XBox's controller is my top pick for fighting gamepads. Now get online so I can school you in Capcom vs SNK 2 EO! :)

Thanks for the links to the 2 Driver pages.....JESUS! 15 replies and all I got was 1 helpful answer!

BTW, the PS2 controller doesnt compare to the XBOX controller S...sorry. The Controller S analog sticks are tighter and feel better constructed as well as having a slight thumb divet in the stick for better comfort. Plus, as someone else has said the triggers are also analog pressure sensitive as well as all the BUTTONS!....LOL that's right kiddies, I betcha didnt know that!! Every single gamepad button including the black and whites are 256 levels of pressure sensitivity. So in theory, all the BUTTONS are ANALOG as well!!

The Controller S is one sturdy comfortable responsive gamepad....that's why I chose it for my PC as well. I never cared for the PS2's very 'lazy feelling' analog sticks

I think the XBox controller does really well in the comfort category. I played Halo Co-op for about 9 hours straight when it first came out, and I remember thinking, "wow, my hands don't hurt!"

You do realize that you titled the thread "XBOX CONTROLLERS??.....On a PC!?...YES!!," right? This implies that you're making an announcement or something, and thus inviting discussion of the mere idea of Xbox controllers used with PCs. You might get more desirable results if you titled the thread "Need Advice on Xbox controller drivers in WinXP," or "What are the best drivers for Xbox controllers?"

Hi,
A couple of things.
Do you guys know anywhere that sells converters for me to use my GC controller on my PC?
And why are you arguing over which controller is best? The PS2 or X-Box....hmm....now theres a hard decision. But going on the X-box controller that ive used, the original one, the PS2 controller is better.
Of course, neither compares in any, way shape or form to the sublime GC controller!

I do agree that the GC controllers probablly feel most like a glove to your actual hand than any other controller however I just dont think I can grow accustomed to their alien organic button layout.....The triggers are fine and the stick is very responsive and tight but the wacky-like radar shaped buttons ruin the great experience. I would have prefered just a simple Xbox or PS style cross button layout without all the wacky shapes

but it is indeed the most comfortable controller

Some good points there. Radar shaped buttons? You mean the analogue stick and the C-Stick?
I find the feel and button layout on the GC controller to be far better than any other controller that ive used.
The best controller ever for FPS games on a console, is the N64 pad. Bar none.
Playing Goldeneye and Perfect Dark was so intuitive and easy with that pad, its was too easy to forget i was using a console control pad and not a mouse and keyboard.

Ditto..

I do believe that I read Microsoft is "giving" away a USB to Xbox cable so that you can play games with the keyboard and mouse, ie. Phantasy Star Online and other upcoming games.
All you have to do is pay for shipping (which is stated at around $6.95).

Article saying go to Xbox.com
