My Xbox is not even 2 months old.

When i try a original cd it works fine but as soon as i try a cd that i made it say's somthing like, 'make sure the disk that you are trying to play is a game, music, DVD disk',

Is there no way to play a burned cd in the Xbox?

Cause it will be alot easier to hit the play key instead of going and looking for song in stack of cd's.

Thanks.

Has any cd's or dvd's (i'm talking about the make of the cd's and dvd's) worked on your Xbox.

Also in every Xbox are the drives different?

There are three different drives, in order of worst to best (in general)...

Thompson
Philips
Samsung

You can tell which is which by the way the disc tray is designed. (Click the links for pics.)

But even the Samsung is 'hit or miss' with burned media. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. As suggested, you might want to try different blank media and see how that goes.

Elaborating on this, there are 2 (or maybe 3) different generations of the phillips and Samsung drives. There is also a drive from LG.

I don't know the Phillips model numbers, but the new Phillips drives are pretty good. I have one (Xbox purchased July 2004). It reads silver bottomed CD-R's, but not CD-R's with blue bottoms.

As for the Samsung drives, I believe the 605F, which is the original, is the best. Then there was the 605B, which isn't as good, but should read CD-R's. The third one is the 605D. I don't know much about it, but if it's like the others, then most CD-R's should work.

I don't have any info about the LG drive, except that it's not very good with CD-R's. As mentioned earlier, go to forums.xbox-scene.com and look up info about the different disc drives.

One suggest I have would be to try different CD-R's. Most xbox drives are usually picky about what media they will read.

www.xboxscene.com is a great source for drive types, what brand of discs should work, and what version of xbox you have. You can check the FAQ in the forums, or just look around the site.

What software are you using to burn the CD's? Media used? And they are in CD format, not MP3, right?
