Wow, this would be a really good deals if you could even find 10 games for under $10 as long as you have a PS1 to trade in. You get a lot.... Xbox, 2games, new controller, AND remote. Sounds like a smoking deal to me.

I wonder how much a used PS1 can be had for - I cant imagine much of a market for one.

I'm willing to bet that they won't take every single ps1 game....probably only ones they have demand for in the preplayed world. So, I'm thinking if you go to target and get ten copies of "The Olsen Twins go Shopping" or something of the like, they'll probably laugh you out of the store instead of the other way around.

I dunno. Usually when they have this sort of deal, they'll take any PS1 game. They don't necessarily sell them in-store anyway. Certain games they send to the online warehouse to fill orders.
And you'd be surprised how fast those Olsen Twins games sell.
Though they probably wouldn't be pleased if you're selling them 10 of the same game.
There are a lot of $8 or $9 games now at Meijer and Best Buy and Wal-Mart and the like.
I think NFL Gameday is like $.99 at Gamestop though usually.

A) This deal works for N64, Dreamcast, and PS1. Games have to have case and instructions, which kinda sucks for N64 owners.

B) Certain games don't work for this promo. Madden 94-99, for example.

C) If you don't want a copy of JSRF and Sega GT, you can trade those in at purchase for another $25 off.

D) PS2 titles, as long as they're not Greatest Hits or 99-02 sports titles, will trade in for $20 for an Xbox.

Most of the stuff which won't qualify are titles which are like aforementioned - older sports titles and 1st-generation PS games. There's also a restriction which states you can't trade more than one of the same title in to qualify for the deal.

The market for preowned playstations is pretty high. You've got to remember a chain like EB has 1000 stores. That's a LOT of people you're selling Playstations to - and not everybody can afford to drop $200 on a console and $50 on each game.

Edit: Yes, the Playstation must be in fully functional condition - if you're going to buy something and resell it used, it doesn't make sense to buy broken ones. :D

I've seen like 3-packs of ps1 games at bestbuy B&M for only $20-30. I don't have a ps1 or else I might get this deal, but I though one of you might be interested. hmmmm, I wonder if I could trade my N64 and ps1 games, heh.... Nah, zelda is still too cool :)

There are a lot of used video game and CD stores near me that have amazingly low prices on PS1 games! I am quite sure that I could get 10 PS1 games and the console for about $35-45. Wow, that is like another $50 off. As for trading in my stuff, NO WAY! I paid way too much money to build my collection and I am not going to trade in all my stuff just to get one console. I currently own NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Dreamcast, PS1. My advice to those that are looking to trade in the stuff they already own: sell your 10 games and console on Ebay and you will make mush more money than EB is going to give you-- they rip you off hardcore. I saw this guy (who was mentally handicapped) in EB last time I went who was trading in his PS1 stuff to get a PS2. He gave them ALL of his games, like 30 of them and the console and some DVDs and some PC games... all for $100 off of a PS2 or XBox... and he chose the old ass PS2! He got ripped off, and the worst part is that the store didn't say anything to him about how many games they needed... they just took all his stuff! I wanted to step in but didn't have time.... sad scene.

Okay, enough ramblings.

Ok, I just called my local EB and the guy there said that the current promo is 15 games and a console and that the games did not have to be for the console you are trading in, and could be for multiple systems.... Is he wrong, cause I asked him: "10, or 15." He said they had a promotion a while ago for 10 games + console, and now it was 15. Not as hot for me with 15 games. What can I do? -TAL :(

My local EB stores has this deal as well as Gamecube for $49 after trade in or PS2 for $99.

I did the deal back in June. Traded in my five year old Playstation along with games from both Playstation and Dreamcast, controllers, memory cards, etc. Even if you don't have enough games, you can get a partial credit. I ended up getting $82 off my Xbox.

Ok, I just called my local EB, and this is what he told me:

You can trade in either 1) Playstation 2 + 5 Games, 2) Playstation 1 + 10 Games, 3) Dreamcast + 10 Games, or 4) N64 + 10 Games in trade for $99 off the purchase of an Xbox, Gamecube or PS2. And yes, there is an exclusion list primarily consisting of older sports games. Also, you cannot mix games for various consoles. You must trade in 10 (except PS2, whereas it's 5) games corresponding to the console you are trading.

Still not a bad deal, I have a Dreamcast w/ 20 games and PS1 w/ 50 games. I'm sure I could walk out with them owing me money. :)

Is there a list of the PS1 games that EB is willing to take? I'm going to call as well as go in to verify this myself, but a list would be handy. Also, my PS1 is not modded, but a friend of mine's is. Do you think they would take that as part of the trade in deal? How about if he de-soldered it (correctly if course.) Would they even notice? This would be great for the BOTH of us, since I have about 20 games (of which they'll probably take a little over 10) and I can give the rest to my friend to trade in as well.

CuriousGeorge: all they do is just test the system to make it work, they usually dont open it.. so if the modded one works like a regular one... it will be fine... good luck! im gonna try to get a ps2... just for GTA: VC

What are these going for? I want to get a N64, Mario 64, and Mario Kart for my son... loves the Mario!

There is nothing on the EBGames website, but I would bet that its around $40-$50 in the stores.

Went to my local (15 Miles) EB, and brought my old original series playstation and an assortment of games for playstation and some from my dreamcast. Bought the Xbox and DVD kit, got the two games that come with the xbox (Sega GT and JSFR) but the guy at the counter said that I was entitled to choose either Fusion (I think that is what it was called) or RalliSport Challenge...... for free. I don't know why this is, but I guess right now you can get an extra game if you do this deal. I had brought in 2 or 3 extra games, and so my total out the door was $114 for the Xbox, RalliSport Challenge, and the DVD playback kit. Not bad IMO. :) -TAL
