I have come to the conclusion after a long long time that I am getting a 360. I loved my Xbox, and hope the 360 will bring me as much fun.

Problem #1. I have a SD TV. I'm just going to grit and bear it.

Problem #2. If I purchase the Arcade system, will my old XBlive headset from my Xbox work in the 360 controllers?

Problem #3. If I want to download a Halo 3 Map Pack or something, will it fit on my 256mb memory card, or do I really need the hard drive? I'm not really planning on downloading TV shows and tons of content, just stuff for Halo 3 lol.
 
#1 isn't a problem

#2 I'm not sure on that one. It's a standard jack on the 360 controllers that any simple computer mic would use, so if the old one uses that too it should be fine.

#3 If you're planning on saving anything OTHER than game saves, then get an HDD. 20gig is fine for game saves and content, and several demos/arcade games.
 
FYI, the hard drive is required to play xbox-1 games. Plus you also get Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza2 for the $70 difference.

Agreed. You're gonna want to get more games eventually, and they are gonna have more game saves, and downloadable content. Also Halo3 has a system where it records games to the Hard Drive, which is obviously not possible w/o one.
 
Ok, thank you for your input. I just got back from EBgames where the sales employee also talked me out of purchasing the Arcade system. Sadly, they were out of pro's, so I'm going to pick up a Pro tomorrow morning at Circuit City.

Edit: One more question. I have a 22inch Acer LCD Monitor, with 1680x1050 resolution. It does not support HDMI or anything, it is just a regular computer monitor.

Would that product work for my monitor? Would it stretch the image to 16x10, or would it stay 16x9 widescreen?
 
What sort of monitor do you use for your computer? You could use the VGA adapter for the XBOX360 to hold you over until you get HDTV.

EDIT: Just saw your response about your monitor. The last I read, Microsoft does not support 1680X1050 so you'll need to choose a lower rez and have your monitor stretch the image which could result in distortion of the image. You may to search to see if they added a fix to support that resolution.
 
If you bought the 360 VGA cable, you could set the resolution of the cable to 1280x768 which is 16:10 so the aspect ratio would stay the same. The picture quality should look decent, assuming the scaler in the monitor is good (might be questionable..)

I run my 360 off my NEC 20WMGX2 via the component inputs @ 720p resolution, and it upscales to fill the screen (while keeping aspect ratio so black bars on top/bottom) beautifully. I would use the VGA cable I used to have, but my NEC monitor doesn't support aspect ratio over VGA, and I want to maintain the 16:9 ratio.

I say, try the cable. At worst, you're out the $30 or w/e. At best, you get awesome HDTV for 30 dollars! 😀
