no it wont rumble. i have PS2 controllers that I use with USB adatpers and they dont rumble either. I believe you need specific game drivers to enable force feedback.

things like racing wheels have drivers that have game profiles and they interact with the games to provide feedback. but PS2 or 360 controllers dont have specific drivers, they just work plug and play, therefore no feedback :(

XBCD v1.07 + XBCD 360 drivers

Much better than MS drivers. Some games have rumble then.

So which one do I get?
Both. XBCD is a program created to support the original Xbox controller on the PC. Someone else created the XBCD 360 drivers so it took works on the PC. I think they are both required, but you want XBCD anyway to change profiles and configuration.

XBCD
link to newest XBCD 360 drivers

The drivers are created by matt-land, but his site does not have the newest version that I linked. I would use the newest one, though I've never had any problems with the older versions like v0.2.1.

I believe that all you have to do is install XBCD then install the drivers. Note that in the XBCD program, that the Xbox tab doesn't really work correctly with the 360 controller. Any button or axes changes you need to make work fine, but the indicators are not correct. This doesn't affect or hamper anything; use the Windows tab in XBCD to see correct indicators after making any axes or button changes in the Xbox tab.

I have a bunch of XBCD profiles for my favorite games. You can find these at various websites or forums by searching around. They are very handy so you don't have to make your own. For example, I have a GTA SA profile that can simply be loaded and is configured to play exactly like the Xbox version. Likewise, the profiles I have for EA sports games like Madden or NHL are configured perfectly. Some others I had to slightly modify to work good. In addition to the above profiles, I have a few generic or default profiles, BF2, Scarface, Richard Burns Rally, TOCA3, CMR2005, and a couple more. I can zip these and send them to you if you have trouble finding or making a good config for certain games.

I'm trying to get GTA san andreas to work well with my 360 controller.

How do I make it so that the right analog stick controls the camera around the player?

Did you get XBCD v1.07 and the XBCD 360 drivers v0.2.5?

I believe the SA profile I have works completely, including the right analog for camera.

After you get those two things, PM me your email address, and I can send you the profile. Or hell, if you wanna do it manually:

Left Analog: X & Y Axis (Profile 1 & 3); Buttons 13, 14, 15 & 16 (Starting at the top and going clockwise around the stick; Profile 2)

Right Analog: Z & RZ Axis

D-Pad: Button 13, 14, 15 & 16 (Starting at the top and going clockwise around the pad; Profile 1); X & Y Axis (Profile 2); Hat Switch/POV (Profile 3)

X Button: Button 1
A Button: Button 2
B Button: Button 3
Y Button: Button 4
Left Trigger: Button 5
Right Trigger: Button 6
Left Bumper: Button 7
Right Bumper: Button 8
Back Button: Button 9
Start Button: Button 10
Left Analog Click: Button 11
Right Analog Click: Button 12
Guide Button: Switch Active Profile

I believe you want to map axes and buttons according to Profile 1 above (the profile I have for SA has 3 profiles, either different preference or for some other games), but profile 1 sounds like the one you want. Otherwise if you want to wait a few hours, I'll send you the profile to your email.

What is nice about profiles for games that people have made is that you usually don't have to do anything else. Plug in controller, launch XBCD, Open the profile, hit apply I think, then you should be able to play the game without making any changes to the controls in the game. Well that's ideally... some games or profiles might require editing the controls in-game, but IIRC the GTA one I have is already setup.

Will the gamepad work for BF2?

I'm talking about the flying controls?

I like the mouse and keyboard for infantry, but aircraft and helicoptors should be easier with the gamepad.

You have to install special drivers to get it to rumble? The only thing I installed were MS's XBOX360 Controller drivers and my controller rumbles fine. I haven't played too many older games with it, but all of the "Games for Windows" that I've played, it has rumbled. A few include Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Lost Planet Demo, and Dirt Demo.
