Xbox 360 vs PS3

With E3 only 3 months away what are your thoughts on Gfx power, game support, cell, and also the fact that MS is bringout the system this year. Also anyone have pictures or games or systems?

BTW here is a good arguement on this subject

ALSO square enix legend signs to make 2 games for xbox

until you can buy more than 5 good games for either system (hopefully sooner than 1 year after they come out, but i doubt it after the last round) WHO THE FSCK CARES!?!

I think it will be much like the last round. MS will have a better overall system, but PS3 will have the hugh fan base/game support . Although, PS3 will be coming out much later than the xbox 2, so I could be wrong

hugh? 😛

Sony will not have the same edge as they did - they won't have a year and a half start, and the XBox took off slowly and built up. I'm a MS fanboi but I can't say that either one will blow the other one away - there's no point in arguing about something we can't see in the future anyway.

PS3 will be more powerful if the stuff about cell is true, of course we all remeber PS2 "emotion engine" so who knows, buy both and rejoice!

Xbox 360 probably won't be backwards compatible, given:

Different CPU family (PowerPC vs. x86), x86 emulation runs dog-slow on Mac G5 VirtualPC, different video/sound hardware (ATI vs. nVidia). And finally, MS is keeping quiet which makes no sense if they managed to make it work.

So no Xbox1 titles will run with it and game selection will be weak.

Playstation 3 will almost certainly be backwards compatible, and PS2 to PS1 compatibility was excellent.

So PS3 will launch with both new titles and support for thousands of good old titles.

is backwards compatibility really that big of a deal to people? i honestly never even played a psx game on my ps2, except maybe like 3 times just to try it out.

i mean the majority of the people who buy the next gen consoles (as in ps3 or xbox2) will already own the previous one. and if they don't, i really don't think they are going to go out and buy an old ps2 game just to play it on their new ps3. they will be buying ps3 games.

i don't know, maybe thats just the way i think.

Either Engadget or Gizmodo linked to someone saying that MS was still working on making the next Xbox backwards compatible. It hasn't happened yet but they are trying to make it so.

Old games are fun sometimes. The other day, I busted out JetMoto 1 for PSX.

I agree with you.

Who the fvck plays Playstation 1 games on regular basis with a PS2? Nobody is revisting the original Gran Turismo when GT4 is out. And nobody will playing GT4 when GT5 comes out for PS3. GT4 will look like dog crap in comparison.

Backwards compatibility is a big plus for me, especially since I still play Symphony of the Night!

Obviously, there is a market for backwards compatible gaming. Otherwise, why would Sony include it and MS be attempting to include it? It may be nothing more than a marketing gimmick if the majority of users don't use it but it is obviously a selling point.

wtf, Xbox comes out this year? huh?

and btw, that forum is retarded, thats not an arguement, thats a flame fest with ppl callling others n00bs because of their join date, and then one dude not realising that Oct is AFTER july and calling the july dude a noob,...

o wait, thats just like here.

I play older console games all the time.. heck, just played Simon's Quest the other day. I imagine when the PS3 comes out and if it supports older PS2 games, you'll see some great prices on the games. All GTA's for $30? Great deal!

Xbox is first to market in the USA(the largest market). Its release will even beat the PS3 Japanese release by 2-3 months, US launch by 6+(possibly a year). There will be more titles released on the Xbox than PS3 when the PS3 is released. MS has the edge, and Sony wont be able to do what it did to Sega and the Dreamcast.

Bah, PS3 will be more powerful... now the question is whether the PS3 will have as many features as the xbox. I'm pretty sure we'll see an HD and networking support this time around at least. If that's the case, the PS3 will pwn the xbox 2...

Two versions of the Xbox will be sold. One with a hard drive and one without. So, it will be available at two different price points. There still is no word on whether it will use regular DVDs, blu-ray DVDs, or HD-DVDs. I think the HD-DVD is supposed to be the likely candidate but they may stick with regular DVD for cost reasons.
