xbox 360 versions

We're pretty much looking for the cheapest way to get setup with rockband 2. I'm afraid I'll end up regretting not spending the extra 100 for the 360 pro if I start to buy more games and really use it. What should I go with?

Thanks

I'd get the pro, the hard drive is essential for netflix and really handy for sick downloadable games and extra content. Try to find a good deal for one in FS/T or something.

Trying finding a good deal on one of the higher model bundles. MS rapes you on peripheal cost if you buy a less equipped model then want to upgrade it.

Get the Arcade and buy the 60GB hdd live starter bundle. Its $100 and includes everything you would get in the Pro system but also comes with 3 months of Live for free. Thats what I got. Plus any new Arcade system is almost guarenteed to be a jasper which will also benefit you.

I am very happy purchasing the Arcade + $30 20GB Harddrive that Microsoft is selling (plus you get 3 months of Xbox Live Gold). The 20 GB HD allows more then enough room for tons of NXE/DLC downloads especially for RB/GH, however the tradeoff is not being able to download all your games on to the HD (you might have room for just two). The Arcade doesn't come with a network cable (It's just an MS branded Ethernet cable) or a headset (can be bought for $20).

Good for poor college kids, not good if you want your immense collection of games running off your HD 😛

I got a 60gb simply to install games on the HD and not be limited in the number of games/songs/content I could buy on XBL.

Edit: Like others have said, you can buy the arcade and get the 60gb HD pack seperately if you want.

This definitely sounds like the right way to go about it. Plus, Toys R Us has the Rock Band 2 band pack bundle on sale this week for an insanely low $109 PLUS a $25 gift card (seriously, that's an insanely good price).

If you're wanting a console mainly for RB2, then you'll want to download some songs, simple as that.

Hard drive is absolutely not essential for netflix. Netflix uses about 4 megs of space or three or something (I am using it currently on my arcade).

Get the arcade. You may want an HD later but you can get those for relatively cheap, especially if you take the microsoft or circuit city refurbished ones. Benefit of an arcade now is that they are more likely to be using the Jasper (newest) version of the hardware (see the Jasper hunting thread).

$109 for rockband is crazy cheap, I agree.

And if you're daring you can get a cheap (under 50 bucks) replacement 120 gig hdd from the egg and have yourself an elite for under 260 bucks.....it has to be a specific model and if anyone wants to know more just PM me as this might be slightly frowned upon general forum talk.

Get an arcade, since it has the highest chance of being a Jasper. Then get the deal that Childs said.

Really, no one would link this?

Deal!

$29.99 gets you a 20 gig HDD (user upgradable with some trickery) and 3 free months of xbox live....whats not to love....makes the pro model useless

It isn't a bad deal, but I think the $40 for 20 GB HD + wireless controller is much better.

The only problem with this (IIRC) is that the firmware you have to use has a specific hardware code in it, thus opening up the possibility of getting your console banned.

IMO even though they want a ridiculous price for a 120gb hdd you're still better off going with the real MS solution.
