I didn't realize this, but they changed the pricing for Blu-Ray back in April.

http://blog.netflix.com/2009/0...access-to-blu-ray.html

1 DVD out at-a-time (2 DVDs a month)
Additional monthly charge for Blu-ray access on this plan: $1

1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited)
Additional monthly charge for Blu-ray access on this plan: $2

2 DVDs out at-a-time (Unlimited)
Additional monthly charge for Blu-ray access on this plan: $3

3 DVDs out at-a-time (Unlimited)
Additional monthly charge for Blu-ray access on this plan: $4

Cost goes up $1 for each additional disc out per month (e.g. $9 for the 8 DVD plan).

Yes, that is why I canceled my Blu-ray plan for NetFlix back when they jacked up the prices. Before, it was a good deal, considering they didn't have many movies on Blu-ray, and if they did, if it was anything close to a "popular" movie, there was always a "Very Long Wait". Then, they jacked up the price 100%, but still have the same so-so selection and long wait times?

No thanks!

Other things to consider -
1. PS3 has no built-in IR receiver, but there are other options. I just use the Blu-ray remote, though I'd love to use my Harmony instead
2. PS3 has optical audio built-in, 360 requires an additional adapter that is no longer included with any model that is still in production.
3. IMO the PS3 has a better interface for browsing uPnP media servers, but the 360 has better navigation within the video you're watching.

Well you can get great 360 cables with the optical connection at Monoprice.com

Also cheap HDMI cables if you get a PS3.

Go Monoprice!

Thanks for reminding me, I had been meaning to order that first cable so I don't have to remove any cables from my entertainment center when I take my 360s on a trip next week. The reviews on that first cable say the video output is lacking, but I'll see for myself. I'll probably end up using it just for audio anyway, since both of my 360s have HDMI out.

Not when I had it. The vast majority of the movies that had a Blu-ray version were only available on DVD. Any new release on Blu-ray was on Very Long Wait and you waited sometimes in excess of a month, and it still didn't move (see: Dark Knight, The). At the old price, it was worth it for the little bit of added value the option provided. Now, with the jacked up price, it's not worth it at all.

Oh something else I should add on the 360......

Well if you can find a router that can handle 3rd party firmware like a used Linksys 54G with Tomato firmware.

You can turn it into a Wireless Ethernet Bridge and just plug the ethernet cable on the 360 to the router and it will act like a wifi adapter, with much better signals too.

In fact it would be better to use it on other consoles and internet devices in the living room. So before you think of shelling out for the expensive 360 wifi adapter there is a much better alternative.

Since devices with built in wifi don't have the wireless power of a dual antenna router acting as a wifi adapter.

So just an idea you can plug in your 360, PS3 or blu-ray player, Wii & Roku since it has 4 ports in the back & you will get excellent wifi signals. :)

Pretty cool.
