Xbox 360 universal media remote + Win7 media center

Just built a new HTPC and I'm running media center with the Media Browser plugin. I have been trying to configure the Xbox remote to work with media center to no avail. I know I've gotten this to work before awhile ago but I can't remember how I did it. I've followed the guide from here and I have that exact model of remote and receiver. The remote doesn't seem to be taking the code when I hold down DVD Menu and then select a number. Not sure what I'm doin wrong.

Any suggestions?

Seems like a lot of trouble when remotes are so cheap. Is the xbox remote really good enough to make it worth this hassle?

The Xbox remote is based off the MCE remote, almost no difference other than appearance/button placement. For example, my older MCE remotes can control my Xbox 360 (had to turn that capability off on my Xbox...it sits next to my HTPC, so both devices were receiving IR).

The Xbox remote does not need to be "configured" for an HTPC, it just works.

Occasionally these remotes act up a bit and need to be cleared. The common practice is to pull the batteries and let it sit for at least a few minutes. Then pop the batteries back in, and the remote returns to normal. I've had to do this several times over the last year or so...

I finally got it working properly. I moved the receiver to a different USB port as the one it was plugged into was a 3.0 one. Not entirely convinced that the receiver isn't compatible with those but now it's working. Could of just been that the driver didn't properly install when I first plugged it in.

Thanks for the advice anyways.
