Ok i have a xbox 360 and i want to get HD to my computer I have three ways to go

1) if you can find a tv tuner that takes component in then that will work!

2) a component cable to vga, i have seen what microsoft gives but i would not want to buy what they have.

3) last is if you have any crazy ideas

Is this any good and where can i find a better one like gold plated ebay

You don't need to get the specific cable from microsoft, like I said earlier:

"If you just watn to use xbox360 with your monitor, a VGA cable should be all you need.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/

I don't know the best place for you to get one"

Just get a cable that has the same purpose. You don't need to get the microsoft branded one.

Sinewhat offtopic, what makes a gold plated cable superior to a conventional one?

The cables I am showing you go from the "xbob connector" and end with VGA.

The cable you linked to goes from VGA to Component.

Your cable will not work.

I don't even know where you plan to plug it in? Into the male ends of the component output of your Xbox? You wont even be able to connect them together in addition to it not working.

The main advantage of Gold Plating is to provide a corrosion-resistant electrically conductive layer for the cable ends. I don't think you should waste your money unless you plan on keeping your 360 in a harsh environment.

In a lot of cases in electronics, you get what you pay for. Cables would be one of the main exceptions. Instead of spending extra money on a gold plated cable, save your money for something that you'll actually notice.

If you really want something with gold on it, here

Getting them to connect together is not the issue, it's not the right signal for your monitor even if you can get them to connect. I know that things like F/F connectors exist to change gender, but that's not what you want to do.

I've always said that high quality cables are really only important if you have to make a long run. In other words, if you need to go 100 feet to reach your projector, then buy really fat component cables. Pretty much anything will do for a typical 6ft run, but don't get the crappy $5 red/white RCA pairs at Radio Shack. Pencil thickness or better :)

BTW, a capture card with component inputs is not really a consumer grade thing. If you want to capture HD, then you need a Blackmagic Design or Aja capture card, and those start at ~ $1k --- http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hd/ They're awesome though!! :D You also need a really fast array of gigantic hard drives to capture HD - you need ~ 140 MB/s for 1080i, so 3 drive RAID 0 is mandatory!!! Compressed capture is possible with the CineForm HD codec, which is almost as good as uncompressed, but between 3 and 6 times smaller, and is therefore manageable with a single hard drive. However, it costs ~ $500, and you need Premiere or Sony Vegas also...

Someday we will be able to get something like this for $50, but that's a ways off!

What monitor do you have btw? It might be easier to just get a real TV for what you want to do considering the deals on HD LCD TVs lately.

You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but why don't you just play on the livingroom TV or something? Do your parents not want you to use it for that or something? I'm not quite sure how you work that sort of thing at your house.

Growing up at my house, we used the family TV for our gaming system.

Shouldn't you be asleep at 3am? :p

Ankit doesn't seem to restrain himself from listening to music at that time of night

As for other things at the same time, that's all the more reason to think about getting another display. You could keep your comptuer plugged into your monitor and then have a nice big 16:9 LCD TV to play xbox on or watch HDTV.

Why aren't you buying the VGA cable? $50 for better quality than component seems like a no-brainer.
