not a cutscene, cinematic, that sh|t is fully animated realtime? It looks like a cutscene, i can't see how that could be somebody actually playing the game...the angle is weird

Well, imo the gameplay is just a little more important than the graphics...but ok

Hate to be so off topic, but had been meaning to ask: How much difference is there between say 480i and 480p, or 720i and 720p? I know what the difference technically is, but how much of a perceived improvement for HD console gaming?

Doesn't look much better than Far Cry. WAY overdone on the glow/HDR effect. Bump mapping still looks very plasticy.

So far the ONLY thing I have seen on 360 that's been impressive has been Gears of War. I do hope next-gen consoles can do better than this (Gabe Newell seems to think it's going to be very difficult to optimize over their lifespan), because I am not impressed.

Yea, thats probably a cutscene. But all cutscene take place rendered real time to the GFX are going to be the same -just remember you have to play it at 1080p though. It's the single most impressive game (GFX wise) for the 360 IMO.

pretty nice, i must say. though like G4 said, it'll be ~ $700 to get the nex 360 package inslduing two controllers, and not including any games. for that much, i'll stick to the pc. but those pics ARE TEMPTING...

MUST...RESIST...URGE... to support MS.....

Yea no kidding. Not to mention the price of games will go up as well (expected $55-$60/per game)

Wish I could remember the specifics, but a gaming store I visited in person a week or two ago was offering an Xbox 360 bundle for $400, and it wasn't the cheapo bundle with no hard drive. Want to say it was Gamestop (if not, it must have been Gamespot :p). One controller, but I don't think even at rollout they can get us for $300 for a second controller. Wish I could give more details but don't have them, and browsing options are limited ATM. Four hundred's still a goodly chunk 'o change, but quite far from $700.

As to the games being few, and at $55+ a pop, now that bothers me. I know I'd be tempted to scarf them up looking for that winner now, instead of waiting for lower prices and non-hyped reviews.

GoW lead designed CiffyB seems to love the 360.
Cliff Bleszinki, Epic Games Lead Designer, has seen the future; or so he claims. Does he have a crystal ball or Jedi abilities? Not that we know of, but probably having access to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 development kits provided by Microsoft and Sony respectively, give you a nice chance to foresee the future of gaming.

Last week, CliffyB reported that Epic Games has received the final Xbox 360 Xenon Development Kit, which finally gives game developers final silicon as powerful as the hardware that will ship with the retail version of the Xbox 360.

In his latest blog update, the developer of Gears of War gives us a small teaser of what we can expect later this year with the launch of the Xbox 360:

I have had more than a taste of what true next generation gaming is going to have to offer and I'm here to tell you -

You're in for something special.

I can't speak much for Sony right now - yeah, we're working on stuff for the PS3 but honestly I'm so busy with Gears that it's all I'm seeing and I can tell you - Microsoft is giving you a hell of a system. This thing is a BEAST and is capable of MUCH GREATNESS.

Sigh. That's all I can say so far. I am, after all, under NDA. :)

We guess such excitement comes after playing with the final Xbox 360 XeDK and moving the current build of Gears of War to the new hardware. Or has Microsoft incorporated any new feature to the Xbox 360? If that?s the case, we don?t expect to learn about it from official sources since everyone is under NDA, Maybe we should have to wait until Sept 27th?

Whats so special about the graphics? Honestly the buildings are all blurred. HDR seems to be used in conjunction with a fairly short detailed draw distance to mask it with an effect and if not then HDR and focus is used far too much in most of those shots. Honestly I dont see anything my PC couldnt do in the picture.

Edit for clarification I am not talking about GOW which looks awesome only CH.
