Havent played my 360 in 1 week and booted up graw today and it froze. Tryed bebooting a few times but each time i get the 3 reds quadrants lit up with the top right one non lit.

Guess my 360 is toast.

Good think I bought a Best Buy 2 year service plan. Its funny too because I was skeptical about buying one but had the extra 30-40 on a giftcard and said what the hell

When was the manufactor date? iIf it was made before January 06 it will be a free repair, and then you can purchase and extended warranty.

No intercool, but my room isnt hot at all. In fact the system is 2 ft from a window that is always opened a crack with cool 30-40degree air coming in. (Its fall/winter here)

i was just wondering cause i read the article saying how those intercoolers are actually hurting the 360's and not helping them.

how is that? my last 360 died due to heat issues... using a intercooler on my new one is keeping it nice and cool..
it literally sucks out hot air that would be just stuck in the 360 causing large amounts of heat buildup.. the 360 just doesnt cool well.

So are the 2nd gen xbox360 having this overheating issue still? I kinda want one but also in the market for the Wii, yet with all these reliability issues, im still skeptical about spending the dough. I suppose getting it from costco is the best bet, but then I realllly don't want a bundle... any suggestions?

it has to do with the energy draw on the 360, the intercooler is overloading it or something.

Alright. Well now my 306 magically works again. Tried one last time after i ate lunch and it turns on and off flawlessly.

Because of the initial happenings though, im glad i finally gave in and bought one of Best Buys warrenty plans they shove down your throat

i hear most commonly the ring of death can be fixed by reapplying the thermal compound.

Well they do but its like 90 days. They also will fix any xbox 360 before a certain date (mine is after that date)

Its fine though as I actually made out on the deal. I got the 360, GRAW, OBLIVION and extra wired controller. I have BB gift cards and like $30 in reward zone certs as well as a 10-12% off coupon. Basically I got the service plan for free.

Now one thing that will tick me off is if i go in for a replacement and they say they will repair it and ship it to me in a week. They specifically stated that if it breaks,m bring it in and they will give me a new one on the spot

That worked for me. Picked up a used 360 (premium kit & 4 games for $300--can't beat it). After a month it started having lockups in games and the rings of light flashing red. Cleaned the old thermal paste off the CPU/video chip and applied AS5. It has worked fine for 4 months now. :D
