probably a repost

but damn......£279 for the full pack or £209 for the basic pack is a good price.

bit-tech for 209 you get the console, a WIRED controller and a AV cable

with the £279 one you get

* 20GB detachable hard drive
* Wireless Controller
* Headset
* Component HD-AV Cable
* Xbox Live Silver membership
* Bonus Media Remote compatible with Media Centre PCs too

with some bonus metallic detailing on the console itself.

Perosonally I'm gonan skip the 360. I was originally going to get it because I thought that the Xbox was going to be a more open platform than the Sony, but it turns out that the Xbox is going to be less open than the PS3 :(.

I think you will be able to play at 1920x1080 for games that supports it (1080p). I think most games will be at least 720p though.

I went from NES to Sega Gen. to Atari Jaguar to Xbox. I am out of consoles for good. No thank you, PC only from here on out, there is only a remote chance that i will get a PSP, but that is portable.

There is no 1080p output on the 360, but games are supposed to be rendered at 1280x720 minium and then outputed to TVs at 480i, 480p, 720p or 1080i depending on what settings and cables you are using.

Also, a VGA cable is one of the optional accesories so hooking it up to a CRT should be hard at all. Although, I am curious as to how well it will work for 4:3 monitors though as while most monitors can at least run resolutions like 1280x720 and 1920x1080, they usually don't allow enough adjustment of the the picture to display the proper aspect ratio. Hopefully MS will allow VGA users to at least use 1280x960 with letterboxing, and other common PC monitor resolutions would be nice as well.

I just bought a Sony FW900 (24" 16:10 CRT) so I'm ridiculously excited about the propsects for this vga hookup :)

Yeah you should have no trouble adjusting the hight of the picture to make the 16:9 aspect ratio work, but I am still worried how they will handle CRTs with reguards to refresh rate. 720p is 60hz and while most people don't seemed to be bothered by, a lot of us are. Also, 1080i is effectively 30hz, and I don't even think most monitors will sync that low; not that you would want to anyway.

I've played probably 100hrs on the dreamacast using a CRT monitor (re-volt 4 player RULES) :)

I didn't know about 1080i being 30hz, that would kill my eyes. I really like 100hz a lot but 60 is fine for almost every game I've played on the dreamcast except for Jet Grind Radio (it stutters for some reason), so I'm sure it'll be fine for the 360. I'm not getting the 360 FOR the monitor though, so if it doesn't work out it's no big deal. Really extended play sessions bother my eyes but I don't play consoles for hours on end so it's no problem. :)

If they did have a way to set the rate higher that would be awesome, however.

I payed a reasonable amount, but it was less than a 24" lcd would cost me and I figured that I can at least resize the picture if I don't want to play widescreen.
