Xbox 360 pc controller problem

I recently purchased a Microsoft's 360 pc controller for NHL. I somehow got everything to work with the game and the controls worked perfect. A couple of days ago my hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall windows and my apps. I reinstalled nhl and just hooked up my controller and started the game. The controls were all f'ed up. I really have no idea what I did the first time to make it work but I guess I have forgotten. My question is, could someone who has this controller and this game tell me how to get it working agian. I believe I had xbcd installed the last time but it seems to be not helping out at all this time. Thanks
 
Download the newest driver (fire up Windows update while the controller is plugged to the PC so Windows updates the driver automatically).

Then try calibrating the controller in Control Panel>>>Game Devices
 
I bought Xbox 360 gamepad 2 days ago just to play madden 07 trying to improve my mutliplayer skills it seems suck going to 1 win and 1 lost. I read somewhere Logitech dual action gamepad is better for game play.
 
I haven't been able to get my XBOX 360 controller to work correctly in NHL2007. I do have the latest drivers, and according to the control panel, it's calibrated properly. However, in NHL2007, the right analog stick doesn't do anything and the buttons are messed up. In the controller options for the game, it lists various buttons for the Logitech gamepad, though it says that it recognized the XBOX360 controller, so I dunno what's up here. I'm also on VIsta, though there was recently a new controller driver released for it.
 
Ok, I download and updated everything from microsoft and even had xp look for the driver its self and still the controller does not work. I went out and bought a logitech rumble pad and its works great but doesn't feel very comfortable as the xbox controller
 
Anyone know how to get this Xbox 360 controller working for NHL 07, This is retarded that microsoft will make a controller for the pc but make it so it will not work with any games
