Xbox 360 on a pc monitor

Ok, i got n xbox 360 for xmas and eventually im gonna have to run it on my 17" flatscreen SDTV when im back at uni. Gears of war aint lookin all that great on this umm medium sized widescreen i got back in my room so its probably gonna be awful on the 17" tv, although the smaller tv is much newer. So can i hook it up the my pc screen? Its a 17" DVI LCD. Would it look better?

Unrelated problem --> Why cant i hit crap in gears of war... seriously i suck at this, tf is with these sticks? Cant i use the d-pad to move and one of the sticks to aim?? That would be so much easier. Whys there no red ID above enemy troops, i cant tell enemy from friend apart from the sound they make or apart from when they shoot me in the face.

Unrelated request --> Recommend any games for me to buy? I liked croc, the lost world and crash bandicoot on the ps1 and sonic, zero wing and lion king on the genesis. Those were the last games i owned for a console.

 
I tried gears of war the other day. Controls DO suck. I kept dying b/c I wanted to chainsaw everything but I ended up dying even before getting in the melee range.

yep, you just need the VGA cable for the 360. usually around $40. You will need a VGA input on that monitor though.

It will look great quality wise...

Get the VGA adapter for your LCD. It should look pretty good on that.

GoW is tough in the beginning because of the controls (I thought so anyways). Once you get used to them though, it's like second nature.

You can try an HDMI-DVI cable for the PS3. Although, I'm not quite sure if there's HDCP on that.

As for the Wii, I'm not sure. There might be a third-party product out or on the way out.
 
For Nintendo Wii maybe try to get converter component to VGA and get the 3rd party component cables. For PS3 maybe HDMI to DVI cable from monoprice?
 
So if i get this thing and use one of those little dvi vga things that always come with my new graphics cards ill be set?

Ill get it after i try it on the newer sdtv, it might look better than the 4+ year old one.
 
i use a VGA cable hooked up to my Dell 1907FP 19", and it looks really good. if u dont choose the resolution setting correctly, games will look all scewed and messed up, but then u just have to go back and pick a different resolution. 1068 x 768 (i think) is the resolution that always comes out right, but there are much higher ones in the settings and i cant figure out which one will be better without looking scewed.

anyways, get a VGA cable!!!!!!

No.

Those little "things" go from DVI to VGA, not the other way around.

Your LCD has a VGA input, use that.

Yeah. It sounds like you are trying to rush into firefights and blast away. You will die within seconds this way, that's not the style of this game. You have to take cover and play more strategically.

Use the zoom...I can't hit worth beans unless I use the scope button. I 100% agree that there should be something to differentiate enemies...I was playing co-op on my buddy's 360 and we kept shooting each other because everyone looks the same. Also, if you liked GOW, try out the new Rainbow 6 and the upcoming Ghost Recon.

I completed far cry on the difficult setting before "realistc" so im familiar with the non doom 3 style of play. Ill wait for halo 3 before i run n gun 😀

Yea im enjoying gow now, im getting further in the campaign because ive learned to use the stick better. Still not totally used to it yet but it beats hell out of the ps2's stick.

Xbox live is another story 🙁 5 v me and 4 v 2 isnt fair, and even when the teams are fair i still cant kill anyone, and theyre all english lol. I always game with usa people. If im stuck on a european thing then ill have to convince my mates to buy an xbox 360 and gow so they can come be on my team. Fed up trying to communicate with english people, every 2nd sentence is like "o ah heck me" and "what the fook?" Cant convey the accent in text but its annoying.

It happens. Happens in most every online game. Not much you can do about it once the match starts and people start dropping.

If you are playing right now, you are playing during European primetime hours. Play between 6PM EST and 2AM EST and you'll primarily be playing with Americans.

Still, there's something to be said of the hilarity of a French or German dude saying "motherfvck".

True... last time I played, I spent a good 3 or 4 minutes pinned down until my buddy finally flanked the enemy.

Time to pick up a 12 pack and play!

Yea im enjoying gow now, im getting further in the campaign because ive learned to use the stick better. Still not totally used to it yet but it beats hell out of the ps2's stick.

Xbox live is another story 🙁 5 v me and 4 v 2 isnt fair, and even when the teams are fair i still cant kill anyone, and theyre all english lol. I always game with usa people. If im stuck on a european thing then ill have to convince my mates to buy an xbox 360 and gow so they can come be on my team. Well if you think the controls suck, why are you playing a FPS on a console? You can change the controls --> Default, Legacy, Southpaw, etc.

Because pc gaming is dying imo and blah blah blah we've all seen this before im not gonna repeat it, im getting back into console gaming, dont question my purchase! 😛

Only games im gonna get for the pc anytime soon is half life episode 2, and c&c 3, nothing else interests me on the pc anymore. Plus i dont need anything better than a geforce 2 to play my all time fav game of starcraft.

I did change the controls, none of them let me use the d-pad. I never got used to using a stick before as i had a commodore 64 then a genesis then a playstation 1. All had d-pads. Then i ditched consoles for pc's and now im back in the console game again and landed with a funky stick. Itll take some getting used to, but as i said in a previous post im getting better at gow and getting used to the sticks.
