xbox 360 model question

If I have a falcon 360 right now but have not had any trouble with it yet, is it still worth selling it and getting a jasper model? Just asking since I am not sure what the jasper is capable of except for the smaller chip in it. Thanks.

Just curious, but does anyone know what the approximate failure rate is for Falcons? I'm exaggerating, of course, but it seems like everyone here has had at least one RROD.

Falcons were guesstimated to be at 10% by an insider posting at 8bitjoystick.com. The Zephyrs were estimated to be as high as 33%.

And the Jaspers are already coming in with RRoD on the forums I visit (This one and xbox.com) So don't feel bad if you have a Falcon, just hope it goes out before your warrenty is up.

Sucks but this is sort of the mentality I've got now..."if only it'll break RIGHT before the warranty goes out!" I had the extended warranty which was further extended when MS upped the warranty, so I've got until mid-November for this one.

No, it's just that people post when they DO get a RROD so it seems bad. If everybody posted a thread for their xbox working fine it wouldn't look so bad.

How long is the warranty on the xbox? Is it worth buying an extended one from MS? I must have gotten one of the last Falcons, mine was made at the end of September 08. I just want to be prepared in case something happens.

RRoD is 3 years. I think everything else is 1 year, but I'm not sure.

Sure, that's what I expected. I just got a 60GB Falcon for Xmas (my first 360 with a build date of 9/3/08) and wondered about the approximate failure rate.

Really? Not that I don't believe you, but do you have any links to the threads?

Well, you all are either going to hate me or thank me after I tell you what happened to my Jasper pro just 2 weeks after I bought it. I loaded it up just yesterday with Midnight Club Los Angeles and it Red ringed on me. I turned it off and turned it back on and yet again it happened. I turned it off and unplugged everything to let it set for 5 min. I plugged it all back in to load it up and it worked just fine. I was hoping it would happen again so I could take a picture, but it didn't. I can still take pictures of the 360 if you want to see that i really have a jasper. Trust me. I wouldnt want to be the guy to tell you about this if i wasnt telling you the truth. My plans are to return it for another Jasper since im still within the 30 day return policy.

Specs: 843x Team CSON Manufacture Date: October 30, 2008 175 watt power connector.
P.S This is no Joke!!!

That is the guy from this site in the Official Jasper hunter thread. I think its on page 64 or 65, didn't really take notice. There is also a guy in the xbox.com/live forums that is simular (may be the same dude).

*Edit* After reading his post again... it didn't RRoD, it just red ringed. Might just be getting to hot where he has it or something.

Read the FAQ it should point to the different kinds of errors that make lights blink, some of which are things like loose cables. You may or may not have won the RRoD lottery.

Great, thanks.

LOL One guy answers your silly question and that's enough for you? If I were to tell you to sell it off right away would that totally blow your mind? Would you be confused and not know what to do?
