We'll see. I have my money on Verizon. ;)

Maybe. But for sure the battle lines are drawn and the next 5 years we will see some awesome stuff for the customer. What you are getting in terms of value is just the tip of the iceberg. Viva Competition!

The cable and phone monopolies are effectively dead at this point!

Perhaps now, but in a few years, you better believe that all of your communication and media will be delivered via a single internet connection.

Absolutely. Everything. Voice, on demand HD video, Internet. It's gonna be sweet.

AND it's gonna be cheap.

if by a few years you mean 10-20 years, then yeah.

What are you talking about? We pay $40 a month for our FIOS internet (5 down, 2 up) and $40 a month for IPtv, including 3 set top boxes, one of which is HD capable and includes DVR. What do you pay for internet + cable? mmmmk, thought so.

Wait... $40/mo including three boxes? How'd you manage that one? I'm about to order FiOSTV, but it wasn't that cheap.

My roomie cut a deal with the guy somehow. Maybe it helped we already had FIOS for internet.

Actually FIOS is not IPTV. FIOS tv is run like a normal broadcast cable system over fiber. The VOD portion of FIOStv is iptv however.
