I have xbox 360 IPTV! It goes from my media center pc over IP to my xbox 360.

I think the big question at this point is on the actual IPTV end. We already know that the 360 can handle video transmitted through the home.

What kind of service will IPTV provide? What content? What will the requirements be? What speed of internet connection will you need? How many different 360s/set-top boxes will be able to have IPTV streamed to it? How much will it cost? etc etc etc

Here is the website for AT&T's IPTV initiative called "U-verse". I think AT&T and Verizon are the only ones really pushing IPTV in the USA at this point.

AT&T U-verse is the brand name for AT&T Inc.?s portfolio of Internet protocol (IP)-enabled services, including AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet, U-verse Enabled and, in the future, consumer VoIP. The new services travel over phone lines (or over fiber to a consumer's home), and are enabled by AT&T?s initiative to push fiber-optic lines closer to customers? homes. Unlike traditional offerings from U.S. cable companies, video is delivered over IP from the head end to the consumer's STB (Set Top Box). Broadcast channels are distributed via IP multicast, allowing a single copy of a channel to be propagated down to the consumer. U-Verse uses MPEG4 (H.264) encoding, which compresses video and yields a bitrate lower than MPEG2, which is used on traditional media, including DVD. In this model, the STB does not have a traditional "tuner" - it is an IP multicast client which joins the IP multicast group corresponding to the "channel" desired. This also results in a change in the way that the head end (video reception and transmission facility), as capacity is linked to IP network capacity, not frequency, as in traditional cable or satellite systems.

No, because your actual coax dosn't plug into your Xbox. And we're prob only gonna get this weird channels with garbage shows on them. Prob no good network content, and have to pay extra for every little thing. :/

We already have IPTv using our FIOS now...makes it convenient, and it's hella cheaper than buying cable internet + whatever alternative to cable TV you want. The roomie saved like $30 by going with FIOS for Internet/TV.

Just actually watched the movie...god that's hot. Although I wonder how much it'll cost/how many people will actually use it...few people I know would probably use that if they already have a settop box for their cable. And will it stream HD channels as well? (I didn't watch the whole video so maybe it was answered somewhere in there)

What are you talking about? We pay $40 a month for our FIOS internet (5 down, 2 up) and $40 a month for IPtv, including 3 set top boxes, one of which is HD capable and includes DVR. What do you pay for internet + cable? mmmmk, thought so.
