I was lucky enough to win a Xbox 360 Core system from Amazon.com for $100 dollars.

My problem is that I'm in college right now and money is tight, well I have money right now but next semester is going to eat me a new one. I need to get the hard drive (80 bucks), Xbox Live ($40) and a game NBA 2k7 ($40) All I have is a small TV so I think I'll get a LCD so that will cost about 150 dollars, I don't need anything really big.

I keep looking through the games and about all that appeals to me is NBA 2k7, Dead Rising is neat but I played it and it will get boring soon. I'm a regular PC gamer and I loved the Sega Dreamcast but thats about it, I skipped the last generation of gaming systems except for Dreamcast ( <3 it).

Gears of Wars is neat but short? I don't care for Halo anything. I'm not really a fan of FPS games on consoles. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interesting games that have good replay value on it. I've gone through a list of games on Amazon.com trying to find something but there never is (kind of like when you keep going back to your fridge to see if anything to eat comes up magically).

Any Xbox 360 users have any suggestions?

Games that I would consider buying for the 360, or that I've beaten (without FPSs):

Project Gotham Racing (Simulation Racing)

Dead or alive 4 (Fast paced fighting game)

Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Fun espionage game series)

Saints Row (GTA style game)

Tomb Raider: Legend (Beat it, Great action adventure)

I guess that's about it for right now.

Saints Row and Fight Night Round 3 (I only play online for that one) are the only two games I play anymore.

Here i have played almost every major 360 games :

Saint Row = played 22hrs and got bored
PGR 3 = Alright for 15hrs and got bored
Spinter Cell = single and your done , you could rent it and finish it
Dead rising = played it for 40hrs + and still love ;) , zombie are just obstacle ... there is so much the game and 5 different ending. I still haven't done everything in the game and i keep replaying it. Its got a Deus ex type system.
DOA4 = 1hr and you go what the hell
Viva pinata = i could see me playing that games for months end and still not get bored
Gears of war = played the game on hardcore , 12hrs to finish but mutliplayer makes me keep coming back.
Oblivion = played the game for 80hrs and i still addicted to it... this is game that you will end up loving
GRAW = 10hrs of fun but my buddy still play the game , they love the online co-op
Rainbow 6 Vega = 8hrs of fun

Well anyways my fav XBOX 360 games goes :
1.Viva Pinata
2. Dead rising
3. Gears of War

You are typing on a PC monitor. Buy a VGA cable for $30 and you're set for HD.

Nope, I'm typing on a laptop monitor. My home pc has a CRT but the quality is bad now, it hurts my eyes to look at it when compared to this screen.

Thanks for the replies, that boxing game looks pretty neat, I have oblivion for the PC and lost interest in it :(

Good recommendations above. I have NBA 2k7 and Gears of War. I am extremely pleased with both. I could sell you my 360 vga cable for cheap if you want (PM me if so).

Get the HD and start downloading demos. Its how I determined whether some games were worth my time or not.

Get a Gamefly or other game rental subscription service and try the games out for yourself. There's also the multitude of demos you can download once you get a HDD.

Viva Pinata has good replay value only because there is so many different things to try.

With Gamefly you can also get any of the xbox1 games that are on the backwards compatibility list, though only about 1/3 of them are.

no Destroy All Humans! for you :(

Gears of war is amazing, but it's the absolute poster child for brainless FP shooters - even though it's a helluva lot of fun.

Some upcoming 360 titles like Mass Effect promise to bring the 'epic' campaign game to the console, but for now your choices are limited.

Chrome Hounds is actually one of my favorite 360 titles, and provides sufficient challenge to master the weapons and physics of mech customization to keep you busy for awhile.

Sorry, but Saints Row was one of the dumbest things I've played with some of the lamest grapics I've seen. It's like, GTA for gangbangers who just reached puberty.
