Xbox 360 controller not working

When I turn on my 360, with and without a game it in, my controller will not work (wired controller). When I looked at the controller the lights around the Xbox symbol on the controller was lit up next to the 1 and 4. When I try to play a game or move through the menu on the 360, it won't move at all. It won't work. Any suggestions as to what's up? I don't have a second controller to test it with, and no one around me has a 360.

Hook it up to a PC USB port and see if it works in the device manager game controller screen. Other than that I would check for cable or connection dammage.

Change your batteries. That's what shows up on mine when the batteries get low so I know to hook it back up to the Play and charge connector.

did you read the OP? it's a wired controller.

i would say maybe tear it open and check for loose or broken wires/solder joints etc...see if something is broke. otherwise, guess you should pick up a new one.
