No... I've used almost 120 GB already ;).

Yes, I think that's part of the MCE capabilities.

I thought all of them were going to be wireless controllers. This really sucks. That means the hardware is going to look plenty different. Looks like I won't be buying one in the first few months. I want the $399 version but spending $500 for a system and 2 games is hard to justify on my budget.

Exactly. Everyone on here is b|tching about it, but none of them are saying they aren't going to buy it. Looks like Microsoft FTW.

The $299 bundle is a complete ripoff. Wired controller, no HD cable, no Hard Drive, and no remote? No thanks.
No different than any other brand new console released in the last 7 years or so. Wasn't the PS2 $500 at launch? It didn't have a hard drive.

Seriously MS is losing tons of money on each console, I don't know why anyone expected different pricing. There is THREE 3.2Ghz processors in there, a next-gen graphics chip that isn't available on a PC yet (and when it is I bet the video cards themselves will cost $400-$500 alone), 512MB RAM, etc.

But for $100 more you get a hard drive ($100), Component HD cables ($40), wireless controller ($50), headset ($20), remote ($30), lifetime Xbox Live silver membership (I know that one sucks, but it's something. at least lets you download the content). So by buying the $399 version you save $140. If you were to buy a core system then buy these components it would cost you $540.

Sign me up! I can't wait to play games at 720p on my projector. 100 inches FTW!

time to start saving ;)

if xbox 360 is to be a set top media center, 20gig drive will be TINY, but for regular game stuff, i guess its not that big o deal..

as for wireless controller, once you go wireless, wired controllers suck. i can't remember the last time i played my gamecube w/ a wired controller..

I'm not feeling too good about this system.

The screenshots from games on the 360 look marginally better than those on the normal Xbox. Obviously these games will look better come launch (for Microsoft's sake!), but still... the massive technology leaps from console generation to the next are not what they used to be.

Also, it seems to me that full backwards compatibility with your previous system should be a given these days. It's a great convenience for the console owners, and seems to be a key inclusion for parents when they're out shopping for a console for their kids.

I'm leaning towards a PS3, personally. Although a new Shadowrun game was just announced for the 360... hmmm

Yes. If you have a Windows XP machine you can stream music and pictures over. If you have a Windows XP MCE edition machine you'll be able to stream video over as well.

I dunno about you but the new Ghost Recon and Gears of War looks awesome, so does Project Gotham Racing 3.

Yes they have. Now it is a standard feature for the 360.

I'm just hoping that users will have the ability to download the latest codecs. I've got a number of DiVx and it would suck if I was unable to play them through the 360. The 360 should play whatever format Windows MCE can play.

To your first point, you probably know (I'm assuming cause of your name hehe) that the first-gen of Xbox360 games are only fully utilizing one of the three 3.2GHz processors. This will obviously change in the years to come. Also the minimum spec required for release by Microsoft for all X360 games is 1280x720p 16:9 support with 4x anti-aliasing. To be honest with you I would be happy with the first gen of X360 games if they had the same graphics as Xbox1 but ran in 1280x720p with 4xAA. But luckily even first gen is gonna be a whole lot better than that.

Second in terms of backward compatibility, the X360 (according to its specs ;) ) will not destroy your old Xbox console upon being placed in the same shelf together. But seriously it does kinda suck to keep two systems around but there is a plus doing this: Less cost. They would have to including Xbox hardware (at least the graphics chip) to run old games...that would up the cost of the system.

Instead they plan on giving emulation support for the top-selling Xbox games. So at launch probably only 20 or so Xbox games will work but more emulation support is supposed to be downloadable from Xbox Live in the future.
